Rock champion
A nurse has won £25,000 after being crowned the US Rock Paper Scissors champion.
Jaime Langridge, from Texas, beat more than 300 contestants to the title, after pre-tournament favourite, Antonie ‘Shears’ Maanum, was eliminated earlier in the competition.
Fouls in the game - which is traditionally used as a way of settling playground arguments - include the vertical paper throw and the horizontal scissors throw and referees are on hand to make sure contestants play fair.
Matti Lesham, the national league’s commissioner, is now campaigning to make it a global sport and has asked the International Olympic Committee to consider it as an event.
He said: "This is a sport that creates harmony. I want to set up the RPS Foundation to promote this sport as a simple method of conflict resolution."
