Hole-in-water
The world’s first-ever underwater golf tournament has been held in China.
Five players participated in the event in at the Zuohai Aquarium, in Fuzhou city, Fujian province, playing in a 50 ft. deep tank.
An aquarium spokesman said: "The rules are pretty much the same as for regular golf. Whoever gets the ball in the hole wins the match." An additional rule is that players were judged on how long it took them to complete a hole. Timeliness took precedence over number of strokes.
The spokesman added: "The water makes the match very interesting. Not only fish and mammals distract the players, but their buoyancy makes it hard for them to stabilise themselves." The winner finished the hole in one minute and 20 seconds. The fifth-place contestant took five minutes.
