Bald benefits
Bald German men are excluded from "long-term hair replacement support", according to a new court ruling.
Men without hair have no right to state-funded wigs, unlike women and minors.
A court in the south-west state of Rhineland-Palatinate refused to approve an appeal made by a man to allow a statutory health insurer cover the costs of his hairpieces. They ruled the case was not unique enough among men to warrant his request.
The man based his appeal on the legislation that permits women and minors to request such funding.
A court statement read: "The hair’s protective function against he sun and the cold can easily be replaced by a hat. The health insurance does not have to pay for that."
