McQUEEN’S WIDOW DEFENDS AUCTION
STEVE McQUEEN’s widow BARBARA has no regrets about auctioning off the movie star’s belongings - because she "deserved" the money she made from it.
The Bullitt actor’s wife decided to sell his possessions, including his 1929 Harley motorcycle, clothing and toys, at auction in 2006.
Her actions attracted widespread criticism but Barbara insists she "earned" the cash nursing her ailing husband until his death from a heart attack at the age of 50, in 1980.
She says, "It was great stuff but I was worried about it - I had all of it in the house in Arizona. And it was a classy auction. I got plenty of money - and I don’t care what people think.
"I earned it - I deserved it. I don’t care. You couldn’t pay me - what I did with Steve when he was sick - I earned it."
