SHETTY PLEAS FOR WARRANT OVERTURN

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:16 pm

LATEST: Bollywood actress SHILPA SHETTY is appealing to an Indian Supreme Court to overturn an arrest warrant issued against herself and RICHARD GERE.
Gere and Shetty were speaking at an HIV/AIDS awareness event in New Delhi last month (15Apr07), when the Pretty Woman actor swept the beauty into his arms and kissed her several times.
Public displays of affection are taboo in India and Gere’s actions resulted in crowds burning effigies of the 57-year-old actor in Mumbai, Varanasi and New Delhi.
Arrest warrants were issued for both Gere and Shetty recently (26Apr07) after a citizen filed a complaint, accusing the couple of committing an "obscene act".
Shetty says she plans to appeal against the decision and will ask magistrates to dismiss the case at a hearing on Tuesday (15May07).
