Britain’s Princes William and Harry donned bowler hats and pinstripe suits to parade in London’s Hyde Park yesterday (13.05.07).
The two brothers carried umbrellas as they lined up with other Army officers for the Combined Cavalry Old Comrades Association Parade annual parade.
Harry got the giggles as he saluted his aunt Princess Anne but was less than amused when it began to pour with rain as traditional protocol barred the parading troops from opening the umbrellas they carried.
Last year Harry marched with his colleagues from the Household Cavalry’s A Squadron, but yesterday many were absent as they had already been posted to Iraq.
The prince’s initial deployment was delayed as military chiefs were concerned he would be a ‘trophy target’ for Iraqi militia.
But Harry - known as Cornet Wales to his Army comrades - will join his squadron in Iraq before the end of this month.
