The duchess - the ex-wife of Britain’s Prince Andrew - confessed she found her former mother-in-law an intimidating character.
While hosting US TV show ‘The View’ yesterday (08.05.07), she said: ‘She is one to the greatest icons of all time but she is terrifying.’ The 47-year-old royal had a turbulent relationship with the queen. She was famously shunned by the royal family when pictures of her sucking American financial manager John Bryan’s toes emerged in 1992.
Although Sarah had separated from Andrew in January 1992 the couple - who have two children Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie - only officially divorced in 1996.
Sarah has previously confessed she was wracked with guilt about letting the monarch down after watching the hit film ‘The Queen’.
The duchess admitted watching the British Royal Family cope with the death of Princess Diana in Stephen Frears’ movie made her regret any upset she caused Queen Elizabeth over her behaviour when married to Prince Andrew.
She said: ‘The queen is one of the finest ladies I’ve ever met in me life.
‘I’m so honoured to be able to say we are friends. I love her. She’s given up her whole life to her country.
‘I started beating myself up a bit watching the movie, because I started thinking, ‘What a shame if I let her down in any way.'’

Steve Irwin’s widow Teri fled from an awards ceremony in tears after watching TV clips of her speaking about her husband’s death. Teri broke down after organisers at The Logie Awards – Australia’s television industry awards – played tearful scenes of the moment she learnt Steve had suffered a fatal attack. Family friend John Stainton said: "It was awful. Truly, they couldn’t have picked a worse clip. "She was devastated when that clip was shown and the fact the cameras were cutting to her. She didn’t know where to look or what to do." Teri, 42, had no idea the clip was going to be shown at the event in Melbourne on Sunday (06.05.07). Organisers for the bash, the biggest night in Australian TV, yesterday (08.05.07) apologised to Teri for the insensitive decision. The handsome actor is worried most women are only interested in his fame and fortune, so to test their intentions he is using a friend’s name and photograph to set up a profile on networking service Facebook.com.
Orlando is reported as saying: "It’s difficult sometimes to know whether girls like me, or the guy they see in ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’. This way I can get to know them from behind a disguise." The 30-year-old actor plans to get to know prospective dates by chatting online, before arranging to meet them in person.
Orlando recently revealed he is desperate to find his perfect woman and start a family.

The ‘Dukes of Hazzard’ star – who is getting in shape for her new movie in which her character joins the Marines – has to watch her diet because her lactose intolerance causes her to omit gas from "all ends".
Jessica told US TV show ‘Extra’: ‘I am going to be all ripped. But it’s tough, I’m not good on sugar. Or dairy - you’ll hear it come out of all ends!’ The 26-year-old star – who recently went from a blonde to a brunette – does not mind changing her appearance and figure for film roles.
She said: ‘I’ve really become comfortable in who I am and in my skin. I feel beautiful whether I am five pounds heavier or five pounds smaller.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have banned their children from watching their violent movies. The lovers, who met playing weapon-wielding assassins in ‘Mr. and Mrs. Smith’, have also banned their brood from playing with toy guns because they don’t want them exposed to violence. A source told Britain’s The Sun newspaper: "Angelina is protecting them from seeing her make violence look good. "Most of her successful roles have had her waving weapons and getting violent." Brad, 43, and Angelina, 31, are currently in Prague, where Angelina is filming ‘Wanted’, alongside Morgan Freeman and James McAvoy. ‘Wanted’ focuses on a man who realises his late father was an assassin and then trains to become a professional killer. Britney Spears is set to sing a duet with the late Marilyn Monroe. The troubled star plans to boost her ailing career by performing with the movie icon - who died more than four decades ago - on a previously unreleased Marilyn song called ‘Down Boy’. Lance Bass, 28, a former member of Britney’s ex-lover Justin Timberlake’s band *NSYNC, has reportedly secured the rights to the song and thinks it would be perfect for Britney. A source told Britain’s Daily Star newspaper: "Lance wants Britney to sing with Marilyn on the track, like Natalie Cole did on ‘Unforgettable’ with her dad Nat King Cole." Plans are already in place for the ‘Toxic’ singer to don a platinum Marilyn-esque wig and dress like the glamour icon, when they shoot the video. Screen and music goddess Marilyn died of an overdose aged 36 in 1962. Despite being one of the most successful women of her generation, the star was believed to have battled numerous personal demons. Mother-of-two Britney, 25, recently spent a month in rehab following a bout of excessive partying and worrying behaviour, which included shaving off her hair. The singer is currently working on a new album planned for release in October and has been furiously exercising to regain her famously toned figure.

The ‘Careless Whisper’ singer pleaded "not guilty", and then after a huddle with his legal team, who could be heard whispering "no, guilty" the 43-year-old said "OK, guilty".
George said in court: "There are two reasons why we are here today. The first being I did something very stupid and I have been ashamed of since doing it.
"I’m not used to defending myself in a position where I am ashamed of something.
"If I had known the day after the charge was brought that the legal option of accepting a punishment without taking responsibility for something I didn’t feel I was guilty of I could have saved everybody here a lot of time.
"I’m perfectly aware that I did something very wrong when I got in my car when I was unfit to drive. I am totally prepared to accept the correct punishment for that." The singer - real name Georgios Panayiotou – was found slumped behind the wheel of his Mercedes near his home in North London last October.
An entire floor of Brent Magistrates Court was cleared for the hearing, meaning three courts were closed to the public.
Sentencing was adjourned to May 30.

Dianne Ogden - the second witness called by the prosecution in the music producer’s trial for allegedly shooting dead Lana Clarkson at his Los Angeles mansion in 2003 - testified the defendant approached her with a rifle as she tried to leave a party at Spector’s other California mansion in Pasadena in 1989.
She told a Los Angeles court on Monday (07.05.07): ‘He was screaming at me, the F-word. He wasn’t my Phil, not the man I loved. It wasn’t him. He was demonic. It scared the hell out of me.’ Ogden, a music talent coordinator, said Spector, now 67, then picked up a pistol which ‘he put all over me’ while ‘yelling things’. She explained: ‘I said, ‘Phillip, please let me go. Put the gun down.’ ‘I couldn’t hear him anymore. It was like, ‘What am I going to do? He’s going to kill me.’ ‘ Spector then allegedly ordered her up to his bedroom at gunpoint and tried to have sex with her.
When asked by Deputy District Attorney Pat Dixon if Spector tried to be intimate with her, Ogden - who claimed she never had a sexual relationship with him - replied: ‘Yes he did. He did it by gunpoint. He wanted to rape me.’ The following morning, Ogden said she found Spector singing in the shower ‘like nothing had happened’.
During her testimony, Ogden told the jury - comprising of nine men and three women - she was only testifying because she had been subpoenaed.
The witness said she ‘forgave’ Spector after the incident because she ‘cared for him’.
However, she did eventually break contact with him when he threatened her again with a gun as she tried to leave another gathering at his house.
She said: ‘Phillip from behind me said, ‘You’re not going anywhere.’ He said, ‘I have an Uzi with me and I’m going to kill you.’ ‘I said, ‘Phillip don’t do this to me again. You’ve been drinking.’ ‘ During cross-examination, defence attorney Bruce Cutler claimed Ogden had added information to her testimony that she hadn’t previously told investigators. Spector’s lawyers say they can scientifically prove Clarkson shot herself in the mouth on February 3 2003.

The Oscar-winning actress is rumoured to be playing Evangeline Harker, a TV producer who is sent to Romania to research legendary criminal figure Ion Torgu with gruesome consequences.
The movie is based on the John Marks’ novel of the same name, which itself is a modern interpretation of Bram Stoker’s ‘Dracula’.
Swank’s production company Accomplice Films, which she set-up with ex-husband Chad Lowe, recently bought the film rights to the book.
Marks is a former editor of US current affairs show ‘60 Minutes’. Fictional TV show ‘The Hour’, which features in his book, is based on his own experiences. It is not yet known when filming on the horror project begins.

The ‘Shrek’ actress, who is the hotel heiress’ neighbour, says her weekend was ruined when paparazzi surrounded Paris’ home after she was sentenced to 45 days in jail on Friday (04.05.07).
Cameron, 34, is alleged to have said Paris must accept her punishment after being found guilty of driving with a suspended licence.
Cameron is reported by ‘Entertainment Tonight’ as saying: ‘She made her bad choices, she’s going to have to deal with it, that’s her journey.
‘She just has to get plastered all over the world. There were 10 helicopters above her house, which I live not too far from.
‘I was like, ‘Could you please keep it down.’ We all suffer when Paris suffers.’ Meanwhile, Paris has rehired publicist Elliot Mintz who she sacked after he admitted responsibility for her jail sentence.
The 26-year-old blonde had been on a 36-month probation order after pleading ‘no contest’ to reckless driving but claimed in court Mintz had not told her she was banned from driving.
Paris has now launched an appeal against her sentence and petitioned California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.

The actor is to play a researcher in the movie, which is set in the year 2017 after a plague has turned most of the world’s humans into blood-sucking monsters.
The story focuses on the plight of the vampires who face starvation as the human race nears extinction. They must try and find every last remaining person for food or find a substitute for their gruesome diet of blood.
However, a separate vampire group believe they have found a way to save the human race.
Australian twin brothers Peter and Michael Spierig, who co-directed horror film ‘Undead’, are taking the helm on the project, while ‘Lord of the Rings’ filmmaker Peter Jackson’s Weta Workshop will provide the special effects.
Shooting on the project starts in Australia in July.
Before Hawke starts work on ‘Daybreakers’ he stars in ‘Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead’, in which he appears with Oscar-winning actor Philip Seymour Hoffman.

Brittany’s representative said: "They were married at their home in Los Angeles several weeks ago in a very intimate ceremony. The brunette said: ‘This was our first trip as a married couple. We came to the Kentucky Derby and had a wonderful time." Monjack - a writer on ‘Factory Girl’ - is set to direct ‘The White Hotel’ starring Brittany.
‘The White Hotel’ is an adaptation of D.M. Thomas’ 1981 novel about psychiatrist Sigmund Freud and an opera singer he treats.

The once-curvy star, who looks gaunt in new movie ‘Black Snake Moan’, insists she wanted to look "unhealthy" for her role as nymphomaniac Rae.
Christina said: "When I did ‘Ice Storm’ and ‘The Opposite of Sex’, I was fifteen and sixteen. Realistically women do change a lot so I just lost my baby fat.
"As I have gotten older, I am starting to look more like my mother. But in this film, she is someone that doesn’t take care of herself and I wanted her to look like that. I wanted her to look unhealthy." In ‘Black Snake Moan’ Christina’s character is kidnapped by a blues-playing preacher played by Samuel L. Jackson.
She is then chained to a radiator while the preacher tries to persuade her to tame her wild ways.
But Christina, 27, insists she didn’t find the experience uncomfortable - even though she spent hours in her underwear filming the disturbing scenes.
She joked: "I was in my underwear so I was fine.
"Being chained up wasn’t that bad. There are moments when I am wrangling the chain and the chain is causing me to be irritated. It provides insight into her character when she is alone with it.
"It didn’t really hurt. I was careful."

The 39-year-old actress, who recently visited a Russian orphanage, has revealed she is ready to extend her family now she is dating San Diego Chargers American footballer David Binn.

Prince is planning a series of spectacular shows in London this summer. The pop legend has announced a 21-night extravaganza in the UK capital, and the shows will reportedly be the last time he ever performs his greatest hits. The ‘Purple Rain’ star is charging just £31.21 for tickets to the ‘Live Earth’ tour, in honour of his ‘3121′ album and Las Vegas club of the same name. Prince told Britain’s The Sun newspaper: "The last time I was here a lot of people didn’t get to see me. So I tried to make it more affordable for everyone." The tour will start on August 1st, in London’s 02 Arena. The other venues have not yet been decided – and some will reportedly be kept secret until the last minute. However, Prince is keen to include the Royal Albert Hall and The Forum, it has been claimed. The star is set to be supported by a host of fellow performers, including Amy Winehouse and Joss Stone. Prince, 48, is reportedly hoping Amy will join him on stage for a rendition of her hit ‘Love Is A Losing Game’.
