AWARD BOSSES APOLOGISE TO TERRI IRWIN
Bosses of a TV awards show have apologised to STEVE IRWIN’s widow TERRI after making her cry at the ceremony.
Terri became emotional at Sunday’s (06May07) Australian TV Week Logie Awards when footage from an interview with her, filmed shortly after the death of her Crocodile Hunter husband, was aired.
Steve Irwin died after a freak stingray attack last year (06). The interview, during which his wife described the moment she found out about his death, won Most Outstanding Public Affairs Logie at the event.
The Irwins’ family friend John Stainton says, "It was awful. Truly, they couldn’t have picked a worse clip. She was devastated when that clip was shown and the fact they (cameras) were cutting to her. She didn’t know where to look or what to do. It was the first vision she’d ever seen of it." Representatives for network Nine have apologising to the mother-of-two, saying, "The Logies producers are sorry if anything that took place upset her."
