USHER BREAKS WITH MANAGER MOTHER

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:01 pm

R&B star USHER has split from his manager mother, insisting he just wants her to be "mom".
Jonnetta Patton has been in charge of her son’s career since he was a teenager, but both parties deny the sudden split was prompted by a rift.
The Grammy winning artist says, "She and I are on great terms and support each other in our life’s endeavours. We are both very happy but are now working in different areas of the business.
"This is great for me because it means I now get to have my mother strictly as my mother with no added pressure.
"At this time in my life, I am simply more interested in building the strength of my family. And in order to do that, I feel it’s best to separate my business life from my personal life." Reports speculate Usher’s fiancee, stylist Tameka Foster, is likely to replace Patton as Usher’s manager but the singer insists, "She has no aspirations of becoming my manager or any other artist’s manager." The pair announced their engagement earlier this year (Mar07).

PARIS AND REP CONFIRM SPLIT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:01 pm

LATEST: PARIS HILTON’s longterm representative ELLIOT MINTZ has confirmed he’s parted ways with the socialite - just two days after she was sentenced to a jail term for violating her probation.
Hilton, 26, will spend 45 days in a California correctional facility after she was found guilty of violating a probation order and driving with a suspended license in court on Friday (04May07).
At her hearing, Hilton told Superior Court Judge Michael Sauer that Mintz had repeatedly informed her that her license had been suspended for only 30 days and that she could still drive for work-related matters.
Mintz accepts he was partially responsible for the strict sentence through misinformation, and he’s left her employment over the error.
He tells People, "The day after the hearing, I sent Paris an email expressing my sadness over the ruling of the judge and the irrational sentence he imposed.
"In that email (to Paris) I also offered my sincerest apology for any misunderstanding she received from me regarding the terms of her probation. To the extent that I have miscommunicated information I received from her attorneys… I am deeply and profoundly sorry.
"I told her that I assume personal responsibility for my part in this matter.
"I believe when Paris stated in court that she believed it was ok, for her to drive under certain circumstances she was being absolutely truthful. Due to this misunderstanding, I am no longer representing Paris." Mintz adds he bears no ill will towards his client, despite rumours he didn’t quit of his own accord but was sacked by Hilton: "For the record, I have nothing but love and respect for Paris and her family. Paris is a wonderful person and does not deserve the punishment that was handed down by the court. I only wish her my best."

GRAHAM PLEASED GILMORE GIRLS IS ENDING

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 6:58 pm

Actress LAUREN GRAHAM is pleased her long-running US TV show GILMORE GIRLS is coming to an end because its punishing schedule has taken its toll.
The American comedy drama, which traces the saga of a single mother and her daughter, played by Graham and Alexis Bledel, will be ending on 15 May (07) after seven seasons on air.
But Graham struggled to find time to perfect the rapid witty dialogue in the show, and is glad she doesn’t have to do it anymore.
She says, "I think it’s the best decision for the show. One of the things Alexis (Bledel, her co-star) and I wished could be different was the schedule, and it really can’t be."

LOST CREATORS: ‘END IN SIGHT’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 6:55 pm

LATEST: Hit castaway show LOST will end after three more seasons, fatigued executive producers have confirmed.
In January (07) DAMON LINDELOF and CARLTON CUSE revealed they envisioned the endpoint for Lost around episode 100. However, a new agreement with ABC will bring the total number of episodes to 120.
Despite the increase, both Lindelof and Cuse admit setting a three season deadline is "incredibly liberating".
Lindelof says, "(It’s) like we’ve been running a marathon and we actually know where the finish line is for the first time." Cuse adds, "(We’ve had) a road map for the series with all the major mythological milestones and the ending in place for a while. What we didn’t know was how long we had to play the story out.
"By defining the endpoint we can now really map out the rest of the series in confidence. We sort of view Lost as a mosaic. Now there are only 48 more tiles that go into that mosaic, and we’re figuring out, along with all the other writers, exactly where they all go." Lindelof wrote the pilot for Lost with fellow executive producer J.J. Abrams, and Cuse joined the series in October 2004.

Doulgas says, "I don’t think he’s much different. He’s just had more time to think about what to do." A script is due later this year (07), according to moviehole.net.

SINATRA WAS SNUBBED BY PRESIDENT JOHNSON

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 6:52 pm

Singing legend FRANK SINATRA was shunned by the White House after former president LYNDON B. JOHNSON accused him being an "unsuitable" dinner guest.
The crooner often enjoyed state dinners with John F. Kennedy, but Sinatra was snubbed by Johnson when he took over office following Kennedy’s death in 1963, according to a former White House aide.
Jack Valenti, Johnson’s former special assistant, reveals in his memoirs This Time, This Place, "Bobby Kennedy (the then attorney general) told me it would not be suitable to have Sinatra. He has some friends who aren’t the kind he ought to have, and Bobby thinks it wise to avoid him.
"I was crushed. Thank God the invitations had not gone out… I never told Frank about this slight." (KD/WNWCPS/LJ) WENN - FIFTH - HOLLYWOOD, SHOWBIZ & PEOPLE NEWS - 07 MAY 2007

50 CENT: ‘THE GAME FEUD ONE-SIDED’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 6:52 pm

Rapper 50 CENT has dismissed ongoing suggestions he’s involved in a bitter dispute with hip-hop rival THE GAME, insisting it’s in his commercial interests to keep quiet.
Reports of a rift between the pair surfaced in 2005 when The Game released his first album. 50 Cent - real name Curtis Jackson - was reportedly enraged he hadn’t received full credit for his efforts on the record.
But the In Da Club hitmaker is adamant he bears no grudge, saying, "The feud with The Game is a one-sided feud. That’s him upset with my life and my situation.
"Have you heard any records of me responding to Game outside of Not Rich, Still Lyin’? I never made any records about him because he works for me.
"When he sells records, I get paid more money than he does, so why would I destroy him?

MICHAEL THE ‘ROBIN HOOD OF POP’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:07 pm

British pop star GEORGE MICHAEL has laughed off accusations his private fees are extortionate, comparing himself to English folk hero Robin Hood.
The medieval outlaw famously robbed the rich to provide for the poor and Michael is adamant his staggering $3 million (£1.5 million) price for private shows is also for a greater good.
He says, "My starting price is $3 million and it will probably go up when I stop touring. I can be a bit Robin Hood about people wanting to see me play live privately.
"What I would like to do is release my music for free, then I won’t have to interact with an increasingly hostile media."

WILLIS: ‘JFK’S KILLERS STILL AT LARGE’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:04 pm

Hollywood actor BRUCE WILLIS has warned former US President JOHN F KENNEDY’s killers are still at large, insisting LEE HARVEY OSWALD did not act alone.
Oswald was, according to four US government investigations, solely responsible for the 1963 assassination of Kennedy in Dallas. Oswald was shot dead two days after the murder on his way to Dallas County Jail.
However, Willis insists it’s likely that Oswald was made a scapegoat for the assassination, telling Vanity Fair, "They still haven’t caught the guy that killed Kennedy. I’ll get killed for saying this, but I’m pretty sure those guys are still in power, in some form. The entire government of the United States was co-opted.
"I don’t think my opinion means jack s**t, because I’m an actor. Why do actors think their opinions mean more because you act?"

HASSELHOFF PREFERRED BOOZE TO BABES

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:01 pm

DAVID HASSELHOFF snubbed beautiful fans of his hit TV show Baywatch, preferring to spend his nights drinking alcohol alone.
The troubled star, who hit the headlines last week (ends04May07) when a video of him drunk was leaked online, claims he steered clear of amorous groupies on set for fear his family would suffer the consequences.
But he admits shunning their advances only served to push him further towards alcoholism.
In his autobiography Don’t Hassel The Hoff, he writes, "I didn’t have a great desire to mess around because if I cheated on my wife I knew I would also be cheating on my children and myself.
"Girls would be outside my trailer door, clamouring to get in and I would drink the minibar. My assistants got all the girls and I got all the minibars."

WILLIAMS: ‘IT’S DEAD GOOD FUN AT THE CEMETERY’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:01 pm

British pop singer ROBBIE WILLIAMS is shunning his A-list pals in Hollywood to spend time graveside with stars of the past.
In his first video blog posting since entering rehab in February (07), the ANGELS hitmaker reveals he’s desperate to pay homage to idol Dean Martin.
He asks an online pal, "Should we play Fifa 07 on the Xbox - or go to Dean Martin’s grave? "My dad read two Dean Martin obituaries and umpteen Dean Martin books. He is a massive fan and I’ve always thought for sometime I should go down and pay my respects to him.
"But at the same time I thought, am I disturbing him?" It’s not the first time Williams has confessed an affinity with the spirit world - after recording 2001 album Swing When You’re Winning, the pop star revealed, "I like to play it when I’m at home and Frank (Sinatra) approves. I can feel his ghost there watching over me. It’s a wonderful thing and I hope he feels I have done credit to his songs."
