Terrible tie
Malaysian doctors believe neckties are a health hazard and are campaigning for them to be dropped from their compulsory dress code.
The Malaysian Medical Association stated their case to the health ministry, citing studies which show ties to be unhygienic and capable of spreading infection.
Association president, Dr Teoh Siang Chin, said: "They are not often washed and carry germs that can cause pneumonia and blood infections.
"And when doctors are doing their clinical rounds, they dangle all over the place." A ministry official has said they needed more proof that ties were a danger before they stop making them compulsory attire for doctors.
