MY FATHER MY LORD WINS AT TRIBECA
Feature film MY FATHER MY LORD was the big winner at yesterday’s (03May07) New York Tribeca Film Festival picking up Best Narrative.
The Israeli movie, directed David Volach, charts an ultra-Orthodox rabbi examining the challenges posed by strict observance of religious rules.
Other winners on the night include Alex Gibney’s Taxi To The Dark Side (Best Documentary) and Making Of (Best Screenplay and Best Actor).
The award for Best Actress went to Marina Hands in Lady Chatterley, a French adaptation of D.H. Lawrence’s controversial novel, which was already named Best Film at the Cesars, France’s equivalent of the Oscars.
The festival was set up by actor Robert De Niro in 2002, following the 11 September (01) attacks on the World Trade Center in a bid to promote New York as a centre for filmmaking.
