Troubled rapper BUSTA RHYMES was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol in the early hours of this morning (03May07) in New York City.
The arrest comes just five days before (08May07) the hip-hop star is set to stand trial on two assault causes in Manhattan Criminal Court.
Police stopped the rapper, real name Trevor Smith, at 12.48am after they noticed the windows of his GMC Yukon Denali Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) were excessively tinted.
Officers claim they smelled "a strong odour of alcohol" on Smith’s breath and "he dropped his wallet to the ground" when he attempted to show them his identification.
An on-site sobriety test found his blood alcohol level was .147 - above the legal New York State limit of .08.
Smith will be arraigned later today (03May07).
This is the latest of a string of legal troubles for the rapper. In February (07), he was arrested for allegedly driving on a suspended license and aggravated driving.
Next week, his trial for the alleged December (06) assault of his driver and an August (06) assault of a fan, is set to begin.

Australian pop star PETER ANDRE has been released from hospital after receiving treatment for viral meningitis.
The husband of glamour girl Katie ‘Jordan’ Price was being treated for the brain bug at the East Surrey Hospital in, Surrey, England but was released this morning (03May07).
A spokesman for the couple says, "He now needs to be left alone with his family to recover."

Defence chiefs want to give the prince’s Household Cavalry A Squadron the chance to assess the dangers posed by opposition rebels before Harry goes to the front line.
They are also keen to do all they can to keep his presence there as secret as possible from insurgents who have threatened to target him.
Abu Mujtaba, a commander in the Mahdi Army, the Shia militia loyal to radical cleric Moqtada al-Sadr, has said one of his aims is to capture the prince.
He claims to have people placed inside the British Army ready to leak information on Prince Harry’s whereabouts.
An Army source told Britain’s The Sun newspaper: ‘If the men are all familiar with their new surrounding before Harry arrives, they will be far sharper to the dangers of the inevitable first attack.’ A Ministry of Defence spokesperson said: ‘We are not prepared to comment on individual deployments.’ Harry, 22, will head to southern Iraq with the Blues and Royals some time in May for a six-month tour of duty.
He will lead 12 men from A Squadron of the Household Cavalry Regiment in four Scimitar armoured reconnaissance vehicles.
Army chief General Sir Richard Dannatt confirmed on Monday (30.04.07) that the prince would be deployed, despite fears that his arrival will increase the dangers for his fellow Blues and Royals colleagues.

Tina Brown caused outrage while researching her tome ‘The Diana Chronicles’ by calling up sources and describing herself as a ‘friend’.
One person who refused to talk to the author, told New York Daily News newspaper: ‘Tina misrepresented herself as a friend of Diana when calling potential sources.’ The source claims the princess - who was killed in a 1997 Paris car crash - was ‘petrified’ of Brown as a result of the damning Vanity Fair article, ‘The Mouse That Roared’, she wrote revealing the dark side of Diana’s marriage to Prince Charles.
They added: ‘She was not a friend of Tina Brown, and she was petrified of her for the damage she had done before.’ The source also revealed Diana had a different account of the lunch meeting she had with Tina in the summer of 1997 at the Four Seasons restaurant, which the author details as a friendly get together in the first chapter of the book.
The book - which claims Diana pursued Charles out of a desire to be famous and spent two nights with him on the royal train, before the were married - is due to released June 12.
A rep for the publisher Doubleday - which is said to have paid Brown a $2 million advance - said: ‘Tina Brown did not represent herself as a friend, as there was no need to. She approached her subjects as a reporter and always represented herself as such.’

The infant royal - who was born less than a month ago on April 10 - developed a fever on Monday night (30.04.07), and her concerned parents Prince Willem-Alexander and Princes Maxima quickly sought medical attention. Doctors described the royal baby’s condition as ‘not serious’ but advised that she remain at the neonatology department of the Leiden University Medical Centre (LUMC) for a week to be treated. Princess Ariane is said to be ’stable’ and her temperature has reduced since she was first admitted. Her parents Maxima, 35, and Willem-Alexander, 40, stayed with their daughter in hospital last night.
Ariane’s older sisters Amalia, three, and Alexia, who turns two in June, were being looked after at home. Princess Ariane is fourth in line to the throne, after her father and big sisters.

Last week, a last-minute meeting was called by Army chiefs to review Harry’s deployment, after fears were raised the prince could become a trophy target for terrorists and insurgents.

Eighteen-month-old Leonor met baby Sofia for the first time on Tuesday (01.05.07) when she visited the Madrid hospital where her mother Crown Princess Letizia gave birth two days earlier (30.04.07).
Leonor was escorted by her father Prince Felipe, who had picked her up from the royal family’s Zarzuela estate after spending the night with his wife and the new baby.
Hello! website reports a proud Prince Felipe said Leonor showered her little sister with kisses.
The newborn baby was also visited later in the day by Felipe’s sister Princess Cristina, accompanied by her three sons and her husband.
As she left the hospital Cristina told journalists her new niece is ‘gorgeous, and looks like her sister’.
King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia, after whom the new princess is named, also visited the baby princess, their eighth grandchild, later that day.

Nona Paris Lola Jackson, who claims to be the biological mother of all the pop star’s three children, was denied custody by a Los Angeles judge yesterday (02.05.07), but has been given until August 1 to back up her claims.
She attended the court hearing via speakerphone.
Nona – who is described as a "black Jew born in Britain" in legal papers – launched her case last October and is asking for child support payments and shared physical custody allowing her and Michael to spend several hours a day with the children together.
Nona even submitted a schedule demonstrating how easy it would be to make the arrangement work.
Her proposals would still give the ‘Thriller’ singer full legal custody of the children, ten-year-old Prince Michael, nine-year-old girl Paris and five-year-old Prince Michael II, who is known as ‘Blanket’.
Nona claims she and Michael were a ’sexually active couple’, and she is therefore the biological mother.
Michael’s ex-wife Deborah Rowe is named on the birth certificate as the mother of both Prince Michael and Paris, while the identity of Prince Michael II’s mother is a mystery.
Nona said: ‘Debbie’s hospital records will prove that my kids are not hers because of DNA.
‘I gave birth through the means of water birth because I am technically an herbalist.’ Nona insists Michael’s marriage to Deborah was never consummated and therefore she cannot be the mother of his children.
The woman’s first custody bid was rejected by the court last November, and again yesterday, because she did not follow court rules.
Nona could not demonstrate to the court that she had properly notified Michael and Deborah of the case, and she has not submitted proof she is the biological mother.
Her reason for this was: ‘I am not a qualified lawyer.’ Representatives for Michael and Deborah have not commented on yesterday’s proceedings.
Michael’s representative Raymone Bain has previously dismissed Nona’s actions as ‘ludicrous’.

The pair have both been signed up to star in the comedy-drama, which is based on Richard Neville’s account of his experiences courting controversy as a magazine editor during London’s swinging 60s.
Cillian will portray Neville as he becomes embroiled in the longest obscenity trial in English legal history when a sexually explicit issue of his magazine ‘Oz’ causes outrage.
This will be the second 60s-inspired film Sienna, 25, has starred in. She played pop artist Andy Warhol’s muse Edie Sedgwick in the recently released ‘Factory Girl’.
‘Hippie Hippie Shake’ – penned by ‘Billy Elliott’ writer Lee Hall and directed by ‘Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason’ filmmaker Beeban Kidron - will also star 21-year-old British actor Max Minghella and newcomer Emma Booth.
Filming on the project is due to start in London this autumn.

The ‘It ‘Aint Me Babe’ singer has allegedly been dubbed the "weird man" by children in the class, in the Los Angeles suburb Calabas, where his son Jakob Dylan’s child attends.
A source told the New York Post newspaper: "The kids have been coming home and telling their parents about the weird man who keeps coming to class to sing scary songs on his guitar.
"He’s been visiting the school just for fun, but the kids don’t appreciate they are in the presence of a musical legend.
"They just think of him as the weird guitar guy." Dylan is currently touring Europe on his ‘Never Ending Tour’.

DiCaprio will take the lead role in the untitled $120 million film, a noir drama touted as the next ‘L.A. Confidential’, helmed by the ‘Collateral’ director.
The movie will be set in a MGM studio in 30s Hollywood, and DiCaprio will play a private detective who cleans up celebrity scandals and keeps the studio’s star performers out of the headlines. The plot will see ‘The Departed’ star working to discover whether a young movie starlet murdered her husband, and will feature portrayals of iconic figures from the era such as the late Judy Garland. The script was delivered to studios last week, and New Line are already reported to have offered $100m for the right to release the film, with other big studios lining up to outbid them.
DiCaprio is set to produce the movie alongside Mann and script writer John Logan, both of whom worked on Martin Scorsese’s ‘The Aviator’.
The film is scheduled to begin shooting in February.

The Soul Generals, who backed the late music legend for 20 years, will make a series of appearances this year in tribute to Brown.
Daryl, guitarist and band leader, has revealed the first show will take place on May 3 - which would have been his father’s 74th birthday. The Soul Generals will perform at New York’s Apollo Theatre, on the same stage where Brown first burst onto the music scene in 1956.
Daryl said: ‘We’re the only ones who can keep his legacy alive. It’ll be a tribute to him for the rest of the year. We’ll bring the music back.
‘Some people have been trying to talk bad about us, saying we couldn’t perform without him. We’re going to show them. It’s pretty hot.
‘Once they get an earful, they’ll see. He is dead but his music lives on.’ Daryl insists he isn’t trying to replace ‘The Godfather of Soul’ and revealed band members will take turns in the spotlight.
He revealed: ‘Everyone will do a song special to them. We all needed time to regroup. We’ll get to do what he told us, to stay together. He said he wouldn’t be around forever and we could go a long way, and we decided to do it.’ Daryl says Brown’s sister Venisha can’t wait to get on stage and perform.
He said: "She dances better than dad did." Brown died, aged 73, of heart failure last December.
