THE JAM: ‘WELLER WOULD APPROVE OF REFORMATION’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 6:49 pm

Founding members of THE JAM are inviting former frontman PAUL WELLER to join them on stage when they tour the UK this month (May07) and think he’d approve of how they play the original songs.
The British mod group were big in the seventies, but broke up in 1982 after a farewell tour. Weller then went on to form group the Style Council before becoming a solo artist.
Original members of The Jam, bassist Bruce Foxton and drummer Rick Buckler, have now reformed to go on a tour to mark the group’s thirtieth anniversary, billed under the name From The Jam.
Although Weller will not be joining them, Foxton isn’t worried about letting the classic songs down and would be happy for Weller to perform with them.
He says, "We’re doing the music justice. I can sleep easy. No qualms about whether we should or shouldn’t be doing this. I’m really excited about the whole thing.
"People ask: ‘How do you reckon Paul feels about it?’ I’d like to think he’d say: ‘Well, I’m not interested but good luck to them’. If Paul came to see us, I think he would be pleased with the way we’re performing those songs. He’s more than welcome to join us."
