GERE APOLOGISES FOR OFFENCE CAUSED BY KISS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 4:13 am

LATEST: Hollywood actor RICHARD GERE has apologised for any offence he may have caused by publicly kissing Bollywood actress SHILPA SHETTY.
Gere and Shetty were speaking at an HIV/AIDS awareness event in New Delhi earlier this month (15Apr07), when the Pretty Woman actor swept the beauty into his arms and kissed her several times.
Public displays of affection are taboo in India and Gere’s actions resulted in crowds burning effigies of the 57-year-old actor in Mumbai, Varanasi and New Delhi.
Arrest warrants were issued for both Gere and Shetty on Thursday (26Apr07) after a citizen filed a complaint, accusing the couple of committing an "obscene act".
In a new statement, Gere says: "What is most important to me is that my intentions as an HIV/AIDS advocate be made clear, and that my friends in India understand that it has never been, nor could it ever be, my intention to offend you.
"If that has happened, of course it is easy for me to offer a sincere apology."
