YELTSIN LAID TO REST
Former Russian president BORIS YELTSIN has been laid to rest following a religious service in Moscow.
The coffin of the 76-year-old was led by two dozen white-robed priests to the city’s Cathedral of Christ the Saviour before a private burial at the Novodevichy cemetery today (25Apr07) Former US presidents Bill Clinton and George Bush Senior were joined by former UK Prime Minister Sir John Major and British royal Prince Andrew, the Duke of York at the service.
President Vladimir Putin and former president Mikhail Gorbachev also attended.
Yeltsin died of heart failure last Monday (23Apr07) in Moscow’s Central Clinical Center.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years Naina and two daughters Tatyana and Yelena.
