FERRY VICTORIOUS IN LONDON LANDMARK CAMPAIGN
LATEST: Rock star BRYAN FERRY has successfully convinced developers to ditch plans to remodel a famous London square following a long campaign.
The Roxy Music star waged a war against Mayor Of London Ken Livingstone over plans to turn Sloane Square in the exclusive area of Chelsea into a four-lane crossroads to make room for buses.
The singer told developers he particularly objecting to them "hacking out all the trees".
But Kensington and Chelsea council leader, Merrick Cockell says the plans have been axed, adding, "The consultation has thrown up a mass of detailed concerns, many of them about road traffic, and it would be irresponsible to proceed while people have these anxieties."
