Dakota Fanning has been named Hollywood’s Hottest Coolest Young Veteran. The ‘Charlotte’s Web’ actress received the honour at Hollywood Life magazine’s ninth annual Young Hollywood Awards on Sunday (22.04.07). Dakota, 13, told the USA Today newspaper: "I get the ‘young’ part, but I don’t feel like a veteran yet. I’m just excited to go to work tomorrow." When asked about her choice of outfit, Dakota admitted: "I don’t know who I’m wearing, but I love fashion." This is Dakota’s 12th award, making her one of the most prolific and successful child actresses of her generation. Welsh heartthrob Ioan Gruffudd picked up the award for Hottest UK Import. The 33-year-old ‘Fantastic Four’ star joked that the accolade could have gone to Simon Cowell.
Singer-and-actor Chris ‘Ludacris’ Bridges, 29, was delighted to win the Today’s Superstar award, saying: "This feels great because the transition from music to the movies has been a progression.’ ‘She’s the Man’ actress Amanda Bynes, who turned 21 earlier this month, used the ceremony to speak about the importance of staying grounded in Hollywood. She said: "The red carpet isn’t your life, and as soon as it is you’re probably in trouble. I like to be with normal people and don’t feel the need to have 45 birthday parties all over the world."

Val is starring in ‘Columbus Day’ which began filming in Los Angeles’ Echo Park yesterday morning (23.04.07).
Residents had been asked to move their cars off the street before filming started.
At 8.30pm a young mother with a one-year-old child, answered the door to film-crew member Kelli Lassen who raged: ‘You need to move your f**king car because we need to park the toilets for the Val Kilmer movie.’ The production assistant has admitted she was abusive and has since posted a handwritten letter of apology through the resident’s door, calling the incident a misunderstanding.
When asked to comment, Lassen claimed she was reacting to a nearby resident who had refused to move their car.
She said: "Sorry, but Val Kilmer couldn’t even use the bathroom.’

Suri – who was born on the same day in the same hospital as Brooke’s daughter Grier on April 18 last year – arrived at the weekend party wearing a frilly dress.
Tom and Katie presented Grier with a huge gift wrapped in pink and yellow paper.

All extreme curse words must be cut from ‘clean’ versions used for broadcasting, but the definition of such words is unclear.
Record companies can choose which offensive terms to delete and many allow "b***h", "ho" and "n****r" to remain on tracks because they are not considered extreme.
Simmons, of Def Jam records - who has signed the Beastie Boys and LL Cool J – says the derogatory terms should be considered ‘extreme curse words’ and excluded from all ‘clean’ versions.
He has now called for a lyrical standardisation throughout the broadcasting industry to clearly define which words should be cut.
The record boss said: ‘We recommend they’re always out.
‘This is a first step. It’s a clear message and a consistency that we want the industry to accept for more corporate social responsibility.
"Our discussions are about the corporate social responsibility of the industry to voluntarily show respect to African-Americans and other people of colour, African-American women and to all women in lyrics and images.’

Former friends of the London-born rapper – real name Dylan Mills – attempted to kidnap him when he became famous because they believed his record label would pay a hefty ransom.
Dizzee told Britain’s Observer Music Monthly magazine: "They were meant to be my friends as well.
"When you start to make a bit of money, people switch on you. They get the wrong end of the stick.
"They think you’re this or that, but really it’s just that they miss you.
"And because of the kind of people they are, they don’t deal with it properly - they can only respond with violence." Dizzee says the gang changed their mind after realising the rapper was still a good friend.
He explained: "But then, when they actually see you, they realise ‘Oh, he hasn’t changed that much really.’ "They weren’t really going to kidnap me, they were just yapping."

Movie star CHRISTINA RICCI threatened to quit her acting career if she didn’t land her role in latest movie BLACK SNAKE MOAN.
The actress claims producers originally snubbed her for the role of sex-crazed character Rae because they believed she could not pull it off.
But the 27-year-old knew the role was perfect for her.
She says, "I just felt really passionate about the subject matter and the issues. If ever there was a role that could point out the reason I’m an actress it was this one.
"I even told my therapist, if I didn’t get the part, I was going to quit because I would have no idea what it was that people in the industry wanted from me."

Former Spice Girl MELANIE BROWN has urged her ex-boyfriend EDDIE MURPHY to "be responsible" and publicly acknowledge he is the father of her three week old baby.
Brown gave birth to Angel Iris Murphy Brown on 3 April (07) in Santa Monica, California - five months after she ended her six month relationship with the Dreamgirls actor.
The singer claims Murphy became aware of her pregnancy while they were still together and was "over the moon".
She tells British magazine OK!, "We had talked about having a family and getting married. We started talking about whether we should buy a house together, where we could be alone together." Brown insists Murphy was a loving boyfriend and excited about the baby when she flew to her native England to visit her mother last December (06), but when she returned Murphy had ended their relationship and was denying paternity of the tot.
Brown explains, "I came to see my mum for a few days as I wanted to see her in person. Then I got a flight home, landed and there is a whole sea of photographers. There were people shouting about a DNA test.
"I was in complete shock. I tried to call Eddie and couldn’t get through.
Then I got through and he said he would call me back and that was it. He never called back. I literally couldn’t understand what was happening." While Brown was flying home to Los Angeles, Murphy appeared on Dutch TV show RTL Boulevard, saying, "I don’t know whose child that is, until it comes out and has a blood test." She laments, "I was shocked and then I felt a bit disgusted. I don’t feel humiliated. I think the only person who has humiliated themselves is Eddie.
"If he wants to do a DNA test, then do it. Step up to the plate and be responsible. I have no doubt that this is Eddie’s baby.
"I’m not registering her birth without her dad."

Music legend SIR PAUL McCARTNEY uses the break-up of his marriage to HEATHER MILLS as inspiration for his new album, declaring he is finally happy.
The Beatles singer makes references to his estranged wife throughout his album, Memory Almost Full, suggesting he is over the relationship which ended last year (06).

BABYSHAMBLES frontman PETE DOHERTY has insulted the family of a man who died in his friend’s crack den, by making an inappropriate video of the scene.
The troubled British rocker makes reference to the death of budding actor Mark Blanco, who died after falling from a balcony at the London flat last year (Dec06) and brands the scene "creative".
During the film, which has been posted on the internet, Doherty says, "On the whole, if drugs and suspicious deaths don’t get in the way, this place is quite creative for me.
"This is a place I can come and play guitar and all that s**t. I’ve written a few good songs here, like F**k Forever." It is the first time Doherty has spoken about the death since he was quizzed in connection with the incident.

Hollywood actress ANGELINA JOLIE hates the ‘Mother Teresa’ label, insisting she does not want the publicity for her charity work.
The Mr and Mrs Smith star, who has adopted three children Maddox, Zahara and Pax from Cambodia, Ethiopia and Vietnam respectively, says she became involved in humanitarian causes because of her celebrity status.
She says, "I don’t want to act like the Mother Teresa of Hollywood. I quite simply want to help where there is poverty and destitution. Am I the only one who thinks and acts like that? Beauty queen SHANNA MOAKLER has infuriated PARIS HILTON and LINDSAY LOHAN after posting their contact details on her MySpace page.
Moakler famously fell out with hotel heiress Hilton last October (06) when the socialite was romantically linked to the former Miss USA’s then-estranged husband Travis Barker.
Moakler has since reconciled with the former Blink-182 drummer, who is father of her two youngest children.
Over the weekend (21-22Apr07), Moakler posted what she claimed were the phone numbers and email addresses of Hilton and Lohan on her MySpace page, claiming the pair allegedly leaked her own details earlier this year (07).
She wrote, "I posted this blog back in January to let you all know that my accounts were hacked. And since there are two little girls with too much time on their hands and no one to love them…. I’d like to share my ‘hacked’ info as well. I’ve tried to disassociate myself from both these parties for some time now and like a fungus they wont go away." In response, Hilton’s spokesperson Elliot Mintz says, "It was childish, mean-spirited thing to do. It appears to me that this woman is simply desperate for press and attention. The facts are simple. Shanna deliberately posted Paris’ phone number and email address on her MySpace site. It was an unprovoked invasion upon Paris’ privacy which caused her to immediately change her contact information." Lohan’s spokesperson says Moakler did not post the Mean Girls star’s real email address, adding she is "not friends" with the Meet The Barkers reality star.
Both Lohan and Hilton deny hacking into Moakler’s MySpace page.

He says, "I’ve told them I’ll think about it, but only if it was in New York.

Lord Lloyd-Webber would love to find a star for his musical Jesus Christ Superstar, but says British TV bosses wouldn’t approve, adding, "I’d love to do a search for Jesus, but the BBC couldn’t do that. It’s probably against editorial policy." Lord Lloyd-Webber is currently looking for Joseph to star in the West End production of Joseph And The Technicolour Dreamcoat in BBC show Any Dream Will Do.

LATEST: Music mogul SIMON COWELL has laughed off reports his London home was burgled.
British newspaper Daily Express reported the American Idol judge’s $11.7 million (£6 million) home was ransacked by thieves while Cowell was in America.
However, the acid-tongued TV star insists his home is perfectly secure and all his belongings remain intact.
He says, "I’ve spent hundreds of thousands of pounds of the very best security and I can assure you my homes are as safe as the Bank of England."

LATEST: KIM BASINGER has confirmed reports she hired a security guard to protect her daughter from the media following her ex-husband Alec Baldwin’s recent phone tirade against the youngster.
The Oscar-winning actress stepped up security around her Los Angeles home after Baldwin called 11-year-old daughter Ireland a "rude, thoughtless little pig" during a recorded telephone conversation.
The actor has been criticised by film fans after the conversation was leaked on the internet. He has apologised publicly and in private to his daughter.
A spokeswoman for Basinger denies the actress released the voicemail recording to the media, but confirmed the star had stepped up security.
She says, "Kim did hire security in response to the media attention on her daughter in order to allow Ireland to maintain her regular routine and activities uninterrupted." The spokeswoman adds Basinger hopes Baldwin would "finally address his unstable and irrational behaviour so he, at some point, can potentially create a relationship with his daughter."

Pulitzer Prize-winning author and journalist DAVID HALBERSTAM has been killed in a car crash in Menlo Park, California
. He was 73.
The New Yorker was riding as a passenger in a vehicle driven by a University of California journalism student, when it was broadsided by another car yesterday morning (23Apr07).
Halberstam’s driver and the driver of the other car were both injured in the crash.
His widow Jean Halberstam said she would remember her husband for his "unending, bottomless generosity to young journalists".
During Halberstam’s 50-year career, he worked at Mississippi’s Daily Times Leader and the New York Times.
The Times sent Halberstam to Vietnam in 1962 to cover the growing problems in the region and two years later he won a Pulitzer for his coverage of the war.
He wrote 20 books during his lifetime, the most recent being Bill Belichick: The Education of a Coach in
2005.

Irish actor JONATHAN RHYS MEYERS has checked into rehab for alcohol abuse.
The Mission: Impossible III hunk, 29, entered an unspecified facility in the US earlier this week (begs23Apr07), his representative Meredith O’Sullivan has confirmed to America’s People magazine.
O’Sullivan says, "After a non-stop succession of filming Jonathan Rhys Meyers has entered an alcohol-treatment program. He felt a break was needed to maintain his recovery.
"Jonathan plans to resume his schedule following completion." Rhys Meyers has just finished filming August Rush opposite Terrence Howard and Robin Williams in New York City.
The Dublin-born actor was arrested in January 2005 alongside then-girlfriend Reena Hammer under suspicion of assault and possession of cannabis.
Charges against Rhys Meyers were later dropped. He referred to the incident as a "screaming match", which neighbours misheard as a physical fight.

Scottish band MOGWAI have attacked artists THE FRATELLIS, KAISER CHIEFS and JAMES MORRISON for making a Beatles cover album, insisting they cannot "pull it off".
A host of bands will record versions of famous Beatles songs for the LP, which marks the 40th anniversary of the Sergeant Peppers album.
Mogwai say they’re unimpressed with artists attempts to cover the Beatles tracks, although they are working on the release of a new Pixies tribute CD this month (Apr07).
Mogwai say on their website, "Such musical wonders as James Morrison and The Fratellis are to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Sergeant Pepper’s Beatles album by covering songs from it. I cannot wait to hear this meaningful idea.
"Only thing is, can anyone really better the genius of With A Little Help From My Friends? I know Wet, Wet, Wet came really close but it’ll take mastery of music to pull this one off."
