Iraqi militias have threatened to cut Britain’s Prince Harry’s ears off.
The 22-year-old prince - who is due to fly to the war-torn country for a six-month tour in May - is being targeted by militant groups, who want to kidnap him and hold him hostage until British troops are withdrawn from Iraq.
Abu Zaid, a commander in the Mehdi Army militia, told Britain’s Daily Mirror newspaper: ‘We are awaiting the arrival of the young, handsome, spoilt prince with bated breath and we confidently expect he will come out into the open on the battlefield.
‘We will be generous with him. For we will return him to his grandmother, but without his ears.’ Britain’s Military of Defence has admitted that Harry - a troop leader with the Blues and Royals regiment - will be high-profile target.
A spokesperson said: ‘We have not concealed the fact that he is going out there and the bad guys will consider him a high-profile scalp.’ Despite the threats against him, Harry has always maintained his desire to go to war. He previously stated that he does not intend ‘to sit on my a**e back home while my boys are out fighting for their country.’
