AZTECS GUITARIST DIES

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 6:34 pm

THE AZTECS guitarist LOBBY LOYDE has died from a brain tumour. He was 65.
The musician - real name John Baslington Lyde - had been suffering from lung cancer for several years. He passed away on Saturday (21Apr07).
He joined the band in the 60s and was often acknowledged as one of the most significant guitarists in Australian rock.
Speaking of his illness recently, he said, "A lot of people live till they’re 93 and they’re dribbling on themselves, and they’re full of tubes and everyone’s patting them on the head and the Alzheimer’s is so profoundly into them they don’t even know who’s talking to them.
"I don’t want to be there. It’s just not me. I’d rather know that just around the corner’s the brick wall and I’m going to slam into it, because it’s kinda intensely interesting." His former bandmate, singer Billy Thorpe died of a heart attack in Melbourne, Australia in February (07).
