Britain’s late Princess Diana’s relationship with Dodi Al Fayed was just a fling designed to anger Buckingham Palace, the author of a new book has claimed.

Posted in: Royal News — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 4:02 pm

Tina Brown - a close friend and confident of Diana’s - has sparked fury by dismissing the princess’s relationship with Dodi as frivolous and contrived in her tome ‘The Diana Chronicles’.
The author even implies Diana entered into the romance for monetary reasons, writing: ‘In August of 1997, Diana was seeking to replace what she had possessed as a princess with a superstar’s version. What she was really seeking was a guy with a Gulfstream.’ ‘Harrods’ owner Mohamed Al Fayed - whose son Dodi was killed with Diana in a 1997 Paris car crash - is outraged by the author’s claims.
He told Britain’s Daily Express newspaper: ‘This is a total disgrace. She is making money - a lot of money - telling stories which aren’t true. ‘Princess Diana and Dodi were in love and planning to spend the rest of their lives together.
‘You could see it in their faces and hear it in their voices and we have seen all the other evidence to prove it.’ Brown, a former Vanity Fair magazine editor, is reported to have been paid £1 million for penning the book, which is set to be released in time for the tenth anniversary of Diana’s death in August. The writer also alleges that Diana tried to attract other men while attached to Dodi, including US millionaire Teddy Forstman. Dodi’s tycoon father Mohamed - who believes that his son and his royal lover were killed as the result of a conspiracy engineered by the British Royal Family - says Brown’s book is just the latest attempt to smear Diana and Dodi’s memory. He said: ‘This is just part of the campaign against me and against everyone who loved Diana. I will carry on until we get to the truth.’ The book is said to be based on interviews from more than 250 people, including Prime Minister Tony Blair. A source said: ‘It is going to be controversial but this book isn’t based on myths that Diana created about herself and it certainly isn’t gossip.’

Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, has been included in a group painting of the British Royal Family for the first time.

Posted in: Royal News — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 4:02 pm

The duchess - the second wife of Britain’s Prince Charles - features in a work by Russian artist Sergei Pavlenko to commemorate the commissioning of Prince Harry into the British Army.
The painting shows Queen Elizabeth on the steps of the Old College at the Sandhurst Royal Military Academy smiling at her grandsons Princes Harry and William, who are standing to her left in full military uniform.
Prince Charles and the queen’s husband Prince Philip are also depicted gazing proudly at William and Harry.
Camilla stands at the top of the steps behind the queen and partially obscured by former Commandant of Sandhurst Major General Andrew Ritchie’s cap - who is positioned on the steps above Charles.
Pavlenko told Britain’s Daily Telegraph newspaper: ‘Like all other human beings they are good subjects, I don’t differentiate people by who they are.
‘If you want to paint a good portrait it doesn’t matter if the person is old or young, a man, woman or child - from that point of view they were like all of us.
‘But because they are royal public figures it’s an interesting challenge and brings more interest to my work because it becomes historical.’ Harry - who graduated from Sandhurst last April - is now qualified as an armoured reconnaissance troop leader with the Blues and Royals regiment.
William is currently training with the same Household Calvary regiment.
The royal painting is to go on display at the London’s Mall Galleries from Thursday (26.04.07) to May 13.
