PRISON BREAK actor WILLIAM FICHTNER is the latest star to join the cast of upcoming BATMAN movie THE DARK KNIGHT.
Fichtner will join Christian Bale, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Heath Ledger, Gary Oldman and Sir Michael Caine in the follow-up to Batman Begins.
The 50-year-old will play a bank manager in director Christopher Nolan’s sequel, according to website Batman-On-Film.com.

LATEST: ALEC BALDWIN has publicly apologised to his 11-year-old daughter Ireland for leaving a ranting message on her answer machine.
TMZ.com leaked the three-minute recording on the internet on Thursday (19Apr07) after Baldwin’s visitation rights for his daughter Ireland were temporarily suspended by a California judge, the latest episode in his bitter custody battle with ex-wife Kim Basinger.
In a message on his website, Baldwin writes, "Everyone who knows me privately knows that certain people will go to any lengths to embarrass me and to disrupt my relationship with my daughter.
"In such public cases, your opponents attempt to take a picture of you on your worst day and insist that this is who you are as a person.
"Outside the doors of divorce court, I have friends, I have respect from people I work with and I have a normal relationship with my daughter. All of that is threatened whenever one enters a court room… I am most saddened that this was released to the media because of what it does to a child.
"I’m sorry, as everyone who knows me is aware, for losing my temper with my child. I have been driven to the edge by parental alienation for many years now. You have to go through this to understand.
"I am sorry for what happened. But I am equally sorry that a court order was violated, which had deliberately been put under seal in this case… I’m sorry to anyone who’s taken offence from this episode."

LATEST: Actor ALEC BALDWIN is taking legal action to find out who leaked an answer machine message rant he left for his 11-year-old daughter to website TMZ.com.
Baldwin has filed Order To Show Cause papers in Los Angeles Superior Court, to find out why his ex-wife Kim Basinger and her lawyers should not be held in contempt.
The papers, filed by Baldwin’s lawyer Vicki Greene, state: "Petitioner (Basinger) is the only parent with custody, possession and control of the minor child’s telephone voicemail message that was dissemination to (TMZ.com founder) Harvey Levin and TMZ.com.
"I do not know how Mr. Levin received any information about the court proceeding that was closed to the public, but again, it had to come from someone connected to the proceeding, and it was not me." TMZ.com is refusing to comment on how it obtained the recording, in which Baldwin verbally chastises his daughter and calls Basinger "a thoughtless pain in the a*s".
Baldwin’s visitation rights for his daughter were temporarily suspended by a California judge earlier this week, after a judge heard the recording.

WU-TANG CLAN rapper RZA has paid tribute to OL’ DIRTY BASTARD, insisting his late bandmate was a "free spirit" who has left him with many fond memories.
RZA - real name Robert Diggs - still mourns the passing of his late friend, who died in 2004.
He says, "I remember one time - and I hate to say this about him because he’s not here - but one show, when it was time for his part, he was backstage getting a head job (fellatio).
"We just kept going and then he came onstage pulling his s**t (trousers) up, like, ‘Yo…’ "He once came to Cali (California) and did a show at the Key Club. COURTNEY LOVE has taken up weight training and Pilates in a bid to keep herself in shape.
The 43-year-old rocker lost 52 pounds (23.5 kilograms) in just four months thanks to a healthy diet - and now she’s determined to keep the weight off and rid herself of sagging skin.
In a post on her website, MoonWashedRose.com, Love writes, "I’m doing weight training and Pilates and more tough stuff so I can tone more. You lose this much weight and get saggy skin and I’m in no mood for saggy anything, thank you very much.
"So I need to firm up and get my butt in shape and tummy and arms, and do the heavy lifting."

The bassist wed fiancee Alicia Simmons in Las Vegas last month (08Mar07) and is keen to be a good husband as he gets used to being a married man.
In a posting on the group’s website, Way’s brother, bandmate and best man, Gerard, writes, "The band has decided to give he (sic) and his wife a much needed break from the road to start a life and have a proper honeymoon and do all of the things a newlywed couple should do." SIR ANTHONY HOPKINS and RYAN GOSLING fell out on the set of new thriller Fracture because the veteran disapproved of his young co-star’s over-analysis.
The Notebook star Gosling insisted on having lengthy method acting discussions about tense scenes and Hopkins quickly tired of the idea.
Hopkins explains, "He wanted to become involved in the analysis of the plot and all that. I was concerned we were going to talk it into oblivion. I get so bored: ‘For God’s sake, shoot it!’" The Silence Of The Lambs star Hopkins eventually apologised for his comments when the two stars came together again to reshoot the film’s ending.
He adds, "I said I misunderstood this, and I could see now what he was fighting for."

The 2007 American Black Film Festival is moving from its home of five years in Miami, Florida, to Los Angeles.
The 11th annual festival will take place between 25 to 29 October (07) at various venues in West Hollywood and Beverly Hills.
Jeff Friday, of New York-based marketing and distribution company Film Life, tells the Los Angeles Times, "The move to Los Angeles is an important part of the festival’s evolution.
"We intend to work more closely with the studios and create a more potent marketplace for buyers and producers of independent black cinema."

The 100th anniversary of the birth of JOHN WAYNE is to be celebrated with a series of events in the US.
On Saturday (21Apr07), the Newport Beach Film Festival in California is paying tribute to Wayne’s work with a series of movie screenings, called John Wayne & The American Western.
Next month (May07), officials in his birth town of Winterset, Iowa, will treat visitors to guided tours of his childhood home, and will hold a Wild West revue, featuring a stagecoach robbery, and concerts of music from Wayne’s movies.
Legendary actor Wayne was born Marion Morrison on 26 May 1907.

Oscar-winning director MILOS FORMAN is staging an opera in his native Czech Republic.
The Amadeus filmmaker, 75, is bringing jazz opera A Walk Worthwhile to the Czech National Theater in Prague. The show opens on Sunday (22Apr07).
The production was written in the 1960s by Czech writers Jiri Suchy and Jiri Slitr. Forman made a TV movie version of the opera in 1966.

Actor GABRIEL BYRNE called on his Catholic upbringing in Ireland to research his new TV role as a therapist - because it taught him how to listen.
The Usual Suspects star boasts he is one actor who has never been in therapy, and he wasn’t about to start to research his new role in US drama In Therapy.
He says, "The thing about therapy is that what it involves is listening and not judging, and, being raised Catholic, I realised the Catholic Church was there 2000 years before (Sigmund) Freud.
"They (Catholic leaders) understood that humans need to be listened to and to be forgiven.
"So, for me, it wasn’t that huge a jump. The most difficult part of that role for me was listening; it’s very hard to listen onscreen and not look like you’re bored to death. You have to listen actively and in an engaged way."

DREAMGIRLS star ANIKA NONI RAE has been chosen to make Disney history as the voice of the movie studio’s first black princess.

LATEST: Hong Kong star TONY LEUNG has again agreed to star in director JOHN WOO’s historical epic RED CLIFF, just days after CHOW YUN-FAT withdrew from the project.
Yun-Fat was expected to start filming on the $80 million (£41 million) movie last week (13Apr07), but walked from the set claiming he didn’t have time to learn his dialogue.
Now Leung has returned to the film - but will not be playing the role he was originally cast in. Instead, Leung will star as Yun-Fat’s character, General Zhou Yu.

Hollywood star LUKE WILSON was left flabbergasted when his brother OWEN invited him to dinner with former US President BILL CLINTON - and then left halfway through the meal.
Luke was even more surprised when Clinton seemed sincerely upset that he hadn’t got the chance to party with ladies man Owen.
Luke says, "He’s (Owen) friends with a guy who’s friends with Clinton, and Owen said, ‘Do you want to go to this dinner with Clinton? There’ll just be 12 people or so.’ "So we go to the dinner and we’re sitting there and Clinton is holding court, telling these amazing stories. He was talking about going over to Jerusalem and trying to broker the Middle East peace talks.
"And Owen leans over to me and says, ‘I’m gonna get going.’ I said, ‘Are you kidding, you’re going to leave the dinner? We’re halfway through, we’ve just eaten.’ And he’s like, ‘I’m just gonna try and slip out.’ I said, ‘I’m going to stay. I guess I’ll get a ride home.’ "So Owen gets up and discreetly tries to walk out the door and Clinton stops in the middle of what he’s saying. ‘Where are you going Owen, you old dog?’ And Owen got kinda uncomfortable and said, ‘Oh, I just have to go and meet somebody.’ "Clinton was like, ‘No, seriously. Where are you going? Are you going out on Sunset or what? I wanna go with you.’ "And then Owen left and Clinton did seem down he hadn’t gone out with Owen."

NEIL YOUNG has given his wife PEGI a boost on her debut album - by playing the sitar on the record.
The rocker performs on a host of tracks and plays an electric sitar solo on Love Like Water.
Pegi tells Billboard.com, "Leading up to it, I put the band together and we just sort of avoided discussing whether Neil was going to play on it or not.
"He dropped by the first day and kind of listened, and the next day, the guys at the studio had wisely created a little space for him, should he want to participate at all. And then he just ended up playing on everything, all the way through."

Actor JACK BLACK was forced to evacuate his California home twice last week (ends13Apr07) following a fire and an infestation of ants.
The unlucky School Of Rock star spent a few days in a nearby hotel with his wife and 10-month-old baby son.
He says, "Last week there was a fire on my block and there were gale force winds. So the fire department was evacuating everybody in my neighbourhood.
"And when we came back after they got it under control, the house was covered in ants… There was, like, thousands, it was a full-on infestation.
"We moved out. If I was a tough guy, I would have stayed. I tried to mop them up a little bit but they were mad, they were biting. We have a little baby and they were infesting the nursery area. And that’s where I draw the line. We’re out.
"So we re-evacuated, and went to hotel where we had to wait over the weekend.
The exterminator won’t come on the weekend.
"We’ve got a baby so we don’t want to spray the place with poison. So we try and find the hippy-dippy exterminator guy and he comes with the long hair and he’s gonna kill all the ants with love. And he takes one look at the thousands of ants and says, ‘I’m sorry, I’ve got to bust out the poisons.’ So he squirted down the poisons.
"And the key was to kill the queen ant in the ant hives beneath the house. If you kill the queen the colony will fall."
