True grit

Posted in: Bizzare Stories — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 4:29 pm

A former UK bus driver wants his ashes spread on the roads where he worked.
Joe Harvey, 96, from Tipton, West Midlands, wants to do his bit for road safety when he dies - by mixing his ashes with grit and having them spread on the icy spot where his bus came to a standstill 60 years ago.
He said: "I want to be remembered as the man who gave his all to keep the wheels turning. I want my ashes to go in that old grit bin to help keep the buses running in the future.
"It was a great asset and I’ve shovelled loads of grit from that bin to keep the buses moving." Joe spent 40 years working on the buses. He started out as a conductor, before being promoted to driver and inspector. He retired in 1972.
