Fiery start
A trainee plumber is believed to have accidentally burned down a £5 million waterside mansion on his first day at work.
More than 60 firefighters were called to Devon’s Kittery Court - owned by Andrew Brownsword, famous for his Forever Friends range of greeting cards - when it caught fire while plumbing work was being carried out.
Fire fighter John Howes said: "The fire is believed to have been started by a 17-year-old plumber on an apprenticeship.
"It appears at this stage that this was an unfortunate plumber who was soldering in the roof space of a large building, which was undergoing total renovation. He was very upset".
One neighbour said: "I heard it was started by a teenager on his first day.
You have to feel sorry for the poor lad. He must feel terrible."
