Former GOLDEN GIRLS star RUE McCLANAHAN once had to pretend she had laryngitis after one of her ex-husbands choked her and left the actress hoarse for two weeks.
The beloved TV star comes clean about her failed marriages in new book My First Five Husbands and admits one romance ended very badly: And The Ones That Got Away.
She tells US TV show Entertainment Tonight, "He strangled me… and really scared me. I was hoarse for a couple of weeks and I was doing a show and I had to pretend I had laryngitis.
"My son did come to me and said, ‘Mother, you know you’ve gotta leave him or I am leaving.’"
