Britain’s Prince William and Kate Middleton split while on holiday.

William, 24, who began dating Kate in 2002, reportedly realised the relationship was over following a heart-to-heart talk during their Swiss skiing holiday in Zermatt.
Kate, 25, is said to have wanted to settle down, but William felt too young and insisted he needed to concentrate on his army career.
A source told Britain’s The Sun newspaper: “They wanted different things — she needed more commitment. They agreed to stay good friends.
“She really wanted to talk things through. The fact they were on holiday with a big group of people was a source of friction between them.
“No one knows exactly what was said, but William and Kate talked for hours. It is fair to say each of them wanted different things.
“They are a lovely couple, but they simply met five years too soon.
“William feels too young and doesn’t want to give up the freedom that life in the Army allows. Kate is ready to take the next step.” Queen Elizabeth II and Clarence House staff were told about the split last week.
Friends of the couple revealed that being in the public spotlight put enormous pressure on their relationship and Kate is “devastated” by the break-up. William and Kate had been seeing less of each other in recent weeks since the prince began tank-training duties at Dorset’s Bovington Camp. He was seen visiting Bournemouth clubs and was photographed with an arm draped around a female student.
Kate was reportedly furious when she saw the pictures and demanded to know where she stood.
William has always made his marriage intentions clear, and said during a holiday with Kate in 2005, “I’m too young to get married. I don’t want to get married until I’m at least 28 or maybe 30”.
The prince is an officer in the Household Cavalry’s Blues and Royals, while Kate works as an accessories buyer for fashion company Jigsaw.
They met in 2001 when they were students at Scotland’s St Andrews University and predicted to get engaged this year.
British high street chain Woolworths were so confident of a royal engagement it announced plans to produce commemorative tea towels, mugs and plates within 48 hours of an announcement.
