NICOLE KIDMAN felt the love of her native Australia yesterday (13Apr07) when she was presented with an Order Of Australia medal at a ceremony in Canberra.
The actress was awarded the accolade last year (06) but hasn’t found the time to claim it - until now.
Kidman was honoured for her services to the performing arts and for her charity work.
Governor-General Michael Jeffery bestowed the honour on the Oscar winner at Government House in Yarralumla.
Kidman is back in her native Australia preparing for a new film role in director Baz Luhrmann’s new movie Australia.

California Governor ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER was so impressed by the biodiesel makeover he took part in on an upcoming environmentally-themed PIMP MY RIDE show, he insisted mechanics install the same engine under the bonnet of his Hummer.
The Terminator star and rapper/host Xzibit joined forces to makeover a 1965 Chevy Impala and give the classic vehicle an environmental, biodiesel edge as part of an Earth Day (22Apr07) Pimp My Ride.
And Schwarzenegger was stunned when Galpin Auto Sports mechanics fitted the classic car with an 800 horsepower biofuel engine, equipped with recycled plastic bottles.
He has now asked Galpin boss Beau Boeckman to fit the same engine in his own car.

Movie star RAY LIOTTA has discovered the best way for Hollywood’s leading men to lose weight - sign up for a film that requires you to take your shirt off or make love naked.
The Goodfellas star admits he has always worked out for roles that require him to flash his torso.
And when he learned he’d get the chance to bed sexy Jolene Blalock in his new film Slow Burn, Liotta really took care of his physique.
He says, "I was working out and taking care of myself in a good way. I said, ‘I gotta take my shirt off on this, I really gotta lose weight.’ "I’ll tell you, that’s the best way to lose, the best diet that you have is to take your shirt off in a movie." But Liotta insists his work-outs were worth it because he loves the love scenes in the film.
He adds, "We get a little spirited at times, which is nice. It’s one of the first movies I’ve done in a while where I didn’t have to choke the girl to get her to kiss me."

Pregnant SALMA HAYEK has never been a fan of the Bible because she hates the way the good book depicts women and reveres sex.
The Mexican actress insists she still believes in God and Jesus Christ, but she’ll always have big problems with the Bible.
In an interview for women’s magazine Marie Claire, which the Frida star conducted before announcing her pregnancy, she explains, "I don’t like the way the Bible views women - this thing about the Virgin Mary conceiving a child without having sex - so if you conceive a child by having sex, there’s a subliminal message that there’s something dirty about it.
"And this is what makes us divine - I mean, the possibility of creating another life should remind women that we are creators, that we are made like God in our ability.
"There is nothing greater than to create another human being." The interview appears in the current May issue of the US Marie Claire.

ROSARIO DAWSON was so thrilled to discover she would be working near Michael Jackson’s abandoned Neverland Ranch home while making new film Death Proof she tried to convince director QUENTIN TARANTINO to organise a grand tour.
The gritty action film was shot in the countryside near Jackson’s famous Santa Barbara, California estate and Dawson spent every day dreaming of the chance to check out the home, which the pop superstar hopes to sell.
She says, "I really wanted to go and I figured that, between (co-star) Kurt (Russell) and Quentin, they could try to pretend like someone had enough money to actually buy that place and it just never happened.
"I just wanted to go in and look inside… I was trying to figure out a way to get in there and it wasn’t working.
"I had announced the Golden Globe nominees and it was, like, at 5.30 in the morning, so they had to bring me right back to work, and I was so upset because we didn’t fly over (Neverland). I think there’s, like, a no-fly zone over the place."

SPIDER-MAN villain JAMES FRANCO is blaming the extreme lengths he goes to to tackle a role on the bust-up that cost him his friendship with Annapolis co-star Tyrese Gibson.
The 2 Fast 2 Furious star blasted Franco in a Playboy interview in February (07), insisting he’d never work the super-serious actor again after falling out with him on the set of Annapolis.
And Franco accepts the fall out might have been his fault, and admits he has approached Gibson to apologise.
He tells Complex magazine, "We’ve made up, or I tried to make up with him.
"Maybe I was too into that role. I don’t try to be mean to anybody on a movie. In the past I’ve tended to isolate (myself), and maybe people take that as me being rude or me not liking them, but it’s really a way for me to stay in my character.
"I really had nothing personal against Tyrese, but I guess there were a lot of misunderstandings." In his Playboy interview, Gibson growled, "I never want to work with him again, and I’m sure he feels the same way. It felt very personal. It was f**ked-up."

Actor DAVID MORSE was so convincing as a brooding killer in new thriller DISTURBIA, his young co-star SHIA LaBEOUF was terrified of him.
The 20-year-old Holes star admits working with method actor Morse was not a fun experience because the Proof Of Life star really did hate the youngster.
LaBeouf reveals, "He wouldn’t talk to me for two months. He didn’t start talking to me until we started doing the fight scenes in the film and then he would say, ‘This is gonna be real bad, maybe you should duck.’ "He didn’t like me at all. We didn’t get along at all, plus he’s seven feet tall." LaBeouf remembers his co-star was so intense during one brutal fight scene he broke his hand.
The young actor recalls, "We were doing this fight scene and he slams my head into the wall and I look at his hand and one finger was clearly broken. His hand was all messed up. He actually broke three of his fingers.
"Any normal person would shriek or say, ‘Hey, I got to go to the hospital,’ but none of that, because David knew I was watching him. So he goes, ‘I’m gonna go again.’ "He’s just a mind screw, because he knew he was intimidating. I was just reacting for real in a lot of the scenes."

KISS star GENE SIMMONS’ longtime partner SHANNON TWEED has come under fire for using photographs taken of her without asking for permission.
The former Playboy Playmate-turned-reality TV star has allegedly used pictures taken by top photographer DIMITRI HALKIDIS in her book KISS & TELL without clearing them with the snapper.
Halkidis is now considering filing a copyright infringement suit against Tweed.
He claims the photographs were taken in 2002 and he spotted them while leafing through Tweed’s 2006 book recently.
Halkidis says, "I considered Shannon Tweed a friend and now I feel used. I feel I should be compensated and credited like other photographers were in the book.
"Shame on Shannon, she should know the rules of the game by now. This is copyright infringement and she won’t be getting away with it.
"I am shocked she never had the decency to pick up the phone and just ask me for clearance, or if she was busy why didn’t the publisher call and take it through the correct channels?"

BARRY NELSON, the first actor to play JAMES BOND, has died in Pennsylvania. He was 89.
Nelson was a big star for MGM studios in the early 1940s after he was spotted by a talent scout and signed to a series of films including Johnny Eager, Dr.
Kildare’s Victory and A Yank on the Burma Road.
He also became a forces favourite during World War II by starring in the wartime play Winged Victory. He reprised his role later in a movie version of the play, alongside Red Buttons and George Reeves.
Nelson returned to his acting career after the war and starred in films like Time To Kill and Undercover Maisie, and became a trivia poser when he played James Bond in a one-hour TV adaptation of Casino Royale in 1954.
He became a prolific stage star throughout the 1960s and 1970s, appearing on Broadway in hits like Seascape and The Act, for earned him a Tony nomination.

The Trouble singer admits she thought all the women at the high-profile Moscow party were wives of businessmen and couldn’t believe it when actor/singer Jim Belushi, who was also on the bill, revealed the truth.
She says, "It was like this oil guy’s party and all their wives were the only ones dancing when I performed and they’re all, like, 20 years old and gorgeous.

The singer insists he has no immediate plans to go solo but can’t see himself fronting the group for much longer.

The video vixen and recent Playboy model recently challenged the rapper to a televised lie-detector test - to prove he’s making up stories about a romance with her.
The sexy Latina recently told King magazine she’s furious about reports she dated The Game and is sickened by sexual claims the rap star made about her.
But, rather than comment about her allegations, The Game is poking fun at Guerra’s rapping skills, after she performed freestyle on a New York radio station, dissing the Los Angeles-based star.

AEROSMITH star STEVEN TYLER owes his well-toned physique to the summers he spent mowing lawns.
The rocker hated the manual labour his parents forced him to do on one estate in particular - but his summer job gave him a great body that still responds to just a little exercise.
He says, "Do you know why my body looks so good? Because for 21 years I mowed the lawn. I mowed 14 acres. From eight in the morning until one in the afternoon I was out mowing the lower 40 (acres) and digging ditches and mowing the tennis court.
"I hated my parents when I was growing up for that because I didn’t have a good summer." But Tyler loves the body his summer job gave him: "If I do 10 push-ups every morning, the muscle memory is right back."

Former PHISH star TREY ANASTASIO has pleaded guilty to a felony drug charge in Fort Edward, New York in an effort to avoid a prison sentence.
Anastasio was charged with attempted criminal possession of a controlled substance after police found heroin, Xanax and Vicodin in his car during a routine traffic stop in December (06).
In court yesterday (13Apr07), the rocker was told he’ll be expected to make weekly court appearances for the next year and he was also sentenced to perform community service.
Judge Kelly S. McKeighan postponed sentencing for a year, threatening the rocker with a three-year prison sentence if he failed to follow the terms of the plea agreement.

Singer WILLA FORD is taking her new movie role as ANNA NICOLE SMITH seriously she has just paid $20,000 (GBP10,250) for a replica of the tragic model’s bed.
The former wild child commissioned Smith’s flamboyant designer pal Bobby Trendy to create a replica of the luxurious pink bed that featured on Anna Nicole’s eponymous reality TV show, according to TMZ.com.
Ford - real name Amanda Lee Williford - will portray Anna Nicole in an upcoming indie biopic.
Trendy will also appear, as himself, while veteran actor Richard Herd will play Anna Nicole’s late husband J. Howard Marshall.
Actors Chris Devlin and Lenny Hirsh have signed on to play one-time love rivals Howard K. Stern and Larry Birkhead respectively. Jake Short and Patrick Ryan Anderson have both been cast to play Smith’s late son Daniel. Short will play him as a child, while Anderson will portray Daniel as a teenager.

She says, "I made a conscious choice to get in shape. I’ve always been a junk food eater, but I started paying more attention to what I put in my body and cut out foods like pizza, chicken fingers and French fries.
"If I knew I’d want dessert one night, I wouldn’t have bread that day. If I wanted to eat bread, I wouldn’t have dessert.
"Seeing how well it worked motivated me to keep going, but I hit a period when I got too skinny. I wasn’t too obsessed with it, but I did learn that there have to be days when you just don’t think about it."
