A US woman locked her disabled husband in the car and left him to freeze while she enjoyed a night of gambling.
Judy Fairbanks, 52, has been charged with neglect after she left her 58-year-old husband, Charles, in a casino car park and left him for an hour in temperatures of minus two degrees centigrade (28F).
Casino guards found him asleep with a note in the car reading: "I have a disability. Do not be alarmed. I am resting. Do not call security." They called the police who found Judy at a roulette table.

China is founding the world’s first ‘Woman Town’ where women rule and disobedient men are punished.
Chongqing is to convert its 2.3 square km Shuangqiao district into ‘Woman Town’.
Its slogan, "A woman never makes a mistake. A man can never reject a woman’s request" will be carved into the town gates.
Director of Shuangqiao district’s tourism bureau, Li Jigang, said: "Construction will take around two years, and the place will become a very good destination for entertainment and relaxation.
"In any tour group entering this town, female members would play the deciding role, concerning shopping and other items of the itinerary.
"We are drafting a township law, which stipulates clearly how men should be punished and for what. A disobedient man will be punished by kneeling on an uneven wooden board or by washing dishes in a restaurant."

A US fisherman needed over 100 stitches after he was savaged by a giant mackerel which jumped into his boat.
Josh Landin was reeling in a minnow whilst out on his boat in Florida when a 1.5m-long, 26kg king mackerel leapt out of the water, biting him on the hand and leg.
Landin said: "It jumped right out of the water, hit me in the chest, knocked me over and bit my leg." Rob Platner, who was also on the boat in Brevard County, Florida, said: "We were staring at that little fish.
"Like someone waved a magic wand that went ‘whoosh’, it was suddenly a 5ft-long 60-pound fish."

The ‘Shooter’ star was training for his new boxing movie ‘The Fighter’ with friend amateur boxer Brian Nguyen last month when he punched him in the head, landing him in hospital.
A source told the National Enquirer magazine: ‘Brian told Mark to go ahead and put some power behind his punches. Mark was reluctant, but Brian insisted.
‘So Mark let loose a whopper of a blow leaving Brian in need of medical treatment.’ The injured boxer was taken to Los Angeles’ Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre for tests.
The source added: ‘Mark was there the whole time.
‘After a week, Brian was still dizzy and was having trouble standing but the doctors could not diagnose him and discharged him to recover at home.
‘The doctors are still not sure how much damage has been done. They’re playing a waiting game. Mark is heartsick. He just wants Brian to get well, and he told the doctors to spare no cost.’ When asked to comment on the injury he suffered while training with Mark, Brian said: ‘I really can’t talk about it.’

Abigail Breslin is set to star in a movie bringing the popular ‘American Girl’ dolls range to life. The nine-year-old ‘Little Miss Sunshine’ actress beat a host of other child stars to win the role of Kit Kittredge - a little girl growing up in Cincinnati during the Great Depression - in the first ever movie based on the books and toys. A source told the New York Post newspaper: ‘It is going to be a huge movie. The dolls are selling out all over America.’ Abigail - who turns 10 tomorrow (14.04.07) - says she has always been a fan of the ‘American Girl’ dolls and even collects them. The star became the fourth youngest actress to be in the running for an Oscar, when she was received a Best Supporting Actress nomination in January for her role as Olive in hit comedy drama ‘Little Miss Sunshine’. The New York-born actress made her movie debut in 2002 in ‘Signs’ alongside Mel Gibson and ‘Walk the Line’ star Joaquin Phoenix. Abigail will begin filming ‘American Girl’ - which is being adapted by HBO Films - later this summer.

‘The Simple Life’ stars - who have both been charged with Driving Under the Influence in recent months - are acting as camp counsellors for the latest series of their show, but abandoned the kids and took the bus from Camp Shawnee to West Hollywood’s Robertson Boulevard.
A source said: ‘The girls arrived at the Kitson boutique in the big yellow school bus driven by a really hunky driver.
‘You would never normally see a school bus driver that hot! ‘Paris and Nicole were filming for the show, but happily signed autographs for a group of fans between takes.’ Paris, 26, recently pleaded no contest to a charge of reckless driving after she was stopped for speeding and found to be over the legal blood alcohol level. She claimed she only had one margarita.
The hotel heiress was stopped by police last month for driving without her lights on and now faces further charges as her licence had been suspended because of the reckless driving conviction.
Nicole, 25, has pleaded not guilty to a charge of Driving Under the Influence after she was caught driving on the wrong side of a California highway and told police she had smoked marijuana. Her court hearing is pending.

Since The Libertines split, Carl has formed his own group Dirty Pretty Things.

The prince reportedly took his girlfriend to meet his parents over the Easter holiday, sparking expectations that an engagement announcement will follow shortly. According to two of Denmark’s leading magazines a royal wedding looks very imminent after Queen Margrethe and Prince Henrik met with their youngest son and his lover at Marselisborg Castle near Aarhus recently.
Joachim, 37, was previously married to Hong Kong-born Alexandra Manley but they divorced in 2005 and shortly after he began dating French beauty Marie.
The prince shares custody of his two sons, Nikolai, six, and Felix, four, with their mother Alexandra.
Palace spokeswoman Lis Frederiksen confirmed that Marie had spent Easter with the royal family but was unable to confirm if an engagement announcement should be expected.

The princess royal officially opened the final phase of a £2.3 affordable housing project on the island of Gigha - three miles west of Scotland’s Kintyre peninsula.
Housing association Fyne Home is behind the 18-home development and regeneration project. This month they completed 10 new homes for rent.
The new homes, which are partially powered by solar panels, were designed by Oban architect Iain Campbell, who was chosen by islanders from a design competition sponsored by the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland.
In March 2002 Gigha residents made history when they purchased the island for £4 million. They now officially own is through a development trust called the isle of Gigha Heritage Trust.
Fyne Homes director Alan McDougall told BBC News: ‘We are delighted that the princess royal was able to open this final phase in such a significant social housing development for Gigha. ‘The aim of the development of first phase, Roin Mor, and final phase, Grianan, was to create homes that cater for the island’s 21st Century housing needs whilst complementing the historic landscape and existing housing. ‘We are very proud with the outcome of this development and I am confident that the new tenants will be pleased with their new homes.’ There are also plans to build a park for the island’s children near the local hotel.
Last year Gigha boasted a population of 150 - more than a 50 per cent rise since the 2002 buy-out.

Prince Wilhelm-Karl of Prussia passed away on Monday (09.04.07) in Holzmindern, northern Germany, a statement from the house of Hohenzollern confirmed on Wednesday. No cause of death has been announced as of yet. Wilhelm-Karl, whose grandfather Kaiser Wilhelm II was forced to abdicate in 1918 after World War I and died in exile in 1941, dedicated much of his life to the Knights of St John charity.
The organisation supports hospitals and clinics by providing ambulance and first-aid services. His funeral is set to take place next Thursday (19.04.07) at Berlin’s Protestant cathedral.

Georgina Barclay - the youngest artist ever to be commissioned to paint a member of the royal family at 27 - has painted a flattering image of the prince wearing a kilt and the uniform of The Colonel in Chief of the Black Watch regiment.
She told Britain’s Daily Mail newspaper: ‘I was very nervous on my first visit to Highgrove but was immediately put at ease by Prince Charles who could not have been more charming.
‘I then looked forward to the subsequent sittings. The prince is so animated when talking about our environment - it was a huge task to capture some of this immense passion as well as conveying his relaxed and easy manner. ‘He is completely inspiring.’ Georgina - who gained an art degree at Newcastle University and then trained at Florence’s Charles H Cecil College - painted the classic style portrait after four two-hour sittings with the 58-year-old Prince of Wales.
He was asked to sit for the painting by the Black Watch regiment to mark its 266-year service to the British Crown.
The prince has been Colonel in Chief of the Black Watch since 2002. Before that his late grandmother, the Queen Mother, held the position for 65 years.
Their trustees submitted selected a shortlist of three painters after looking at examples of work from various artists and the prince is understood to have personally chosen Georgina, now 28, after seeing her portfolio.
Official portraits previously painted of Charles have tended to draw attention to certain features.
David Hockney famously accentuated his ears and a Ukrainian artist once portrayed him like a Blues Brother character.
The portrait was unveiled at the prince’s Scottish home Birkhall and will hang in London’s Mall Gallery as part of the Royal Society of Portrait Painters Annual Exhibition from April 26 until May 13.

A ‘dirty bomb’ combines explosives with radioactive material which disperses when detonated. In the event of an emergency, those affected must strip off immediately and pull on the special suit, which is designed so that it can even absorb contaminations on the skin.
A spokesman for Buckingham Palace refused to confirm that the queen had been issued with the suit, saying: ‘We never discuss matters of security.’
