NAYAR’S FATHER SPEAKS OUT AGAINST HURLEY WEDDING
LATEST: ELIZABETH HURLEY’s father-in-law will testify in court against the actress/model on charges of mocking Hinduism during her wedding to ARUN NAYAR.
The newlyweds could face three years in jail after being accused of breaching Hindu customs during their Indian ceremony last month (MAR07).
VINOD NAYAR has offered to testify against his son and daughter-in-law amid reports he had disowned the couple because of arguments during the wedding in the city of Jodhpur.
It is believed he and wife JOANNE will support city resident VISHNU KHANDELWAL who has launched legal proceedings against the newly married pair, claiming they broke Hindu law.
Vinod’s lawyer, HASTIMAL SARASWAT, says, "Vinod Nayar told me on the phone that the couple had made mockery of Hindu traditions." Although legal experts claim it is unlikely the couple would end up in jail, the prosecution will use their £2 million ($3.9 million) magazine deal with Hello! as evidence against the couple.
