SONNY BONO’s sidewalk star, which was dug up years ago for a construction project, has been relocated to Palm Springs Canyon Drive, California.
The late singer-turned-politician’s star was removed during the renovation of Palm Springs Walk, but was relaid in front of a bronze statue of the sixties star on Palm Canyon Drive during a ceremony on Saturday (07APR07).
Members of the public were invited to the unveiling ceremony and the star’s wife, congresswoman MARY BONO and children CHIANNA and CHESARE BONO were also in attendance.
She says, "It’s unbelievably beautiful. The kids and I come down here often or drive by the statute. I think of this place as the heart of downtown. We’re honoured." Bono, who was married to singer CHER for nearly 10 years, died in a skiing accident in January 1998 in South Lake Tahoe, California. He was 62.

Supermodel NAOMI CAMPBELL has sparked reports she is dating 300 star GERARD BUTLER, after the pair were spotted leaving a New York hotel moments apart before getting into the same vehicle.

A 40-part series based on the life of kung-fu icon BRUCE LEE is set to hit the small screen.
THE LEGEND OF BRUCE LEE, which has a budget of $6.4 million (£3.28 million), started production in the southern province of Guangdong at the weekend (07-08APR07).
The actor, who made 46 kung-fu movies, died at the age of 32 while starring and directing GAME OF DEATH in Hong Kong in 1973.
CHAN KWOK-KWAN, who plays Lee in the TV series, said he had mixed feelings about playing the role of an icon.
He says, "I’m nervous and also excited, but I will do my best."

UGLY BETTY star SALMA HAYEK has teamed up with Hollywood studio Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer to launch a production company promoting Latin films.

Movie mogul HARVEY WEINSTEIN is planning to re-release GRINDHOUSE as two separate films - after the double-bill flopped at the box office.
The film, a double-feature directed by QUENTIN TARANTINO and ROBERT RODRIGUEZ made just $11.6 million (£5.9 million) in its opening weekend in the US.
Producer Weinstein is disappointed - and thinks Tarantino’s DEATH PROOF and Rodriguez’ PLANET TERROR will perform better on their own.

LATEST: GIRLS GONE WILD creator JOE FRANCIS was arrested at Panama City airport, Florida in the early hours of this morning (09APR07).
Francis, who created the best-selling Girls Gone Wild DVD and video series, was taken into custody at 6.30am local time on a warrant seeking his arrest for contempt of court.
US District Judge RICHARD SMOAK ordered his arrest last week (ends06APR07), saying the 34-year-old should be jailed until he agrees to participate in mediation talks aimed at ending a four-year-old legal battle with seven underage women, who sued the Girls Gone Wild boss after he filmed them in sexual situations.
Francis stormed out of a court hearing in March (07) and failed to attend an emergency court hearing last Wednesday (04APR07).
