BRITNEY SPEARS’ producer has hit back at persistent reports the singer’s comeback album is destined to be a flop.
SEAN GARRETT, who has also worked with BEYONCE KNOWLES, JENNIFER LOPEZ and MARY J. BLIGE, insists the star has put her recent troubles behind her and studio efforts so far have been promising.
He says, "It’s really coming together.
"I know she’ll do exceptionally well now she’s out of rehab." Spears was released from the Promises rehab facility last month (MAR07) after completing a month long treatment for unspecified substance abuse problems. She hasn’t released an album of new material since 2003’s IN THE ZONE.

A New York City councilman has endorsed the controversial 9/11 detoxification program co-founded by TOM CRUISE by undergoing the procedure himself.
HIRAM MONSERRATE, who is hosting a gala fundraising treatment for the treatment later this month (APR07), underwent 30 days of exercise, dietary changes and 2 1/2-to-4 hour stints in a sauna and claims the results were remarkable.
He tells the New York Post, "I will tell you I felt 100 times better after the program than I’ve felt in the last 15 years." And he insists he’s been approached by scores of Ground Zero rescue workers who have also used the treatment after exposure to high levels of toxins.
He says, "I did not meet one person in this program who said to me, ‘Hiram, I did not feel better.’ I don’t have a science degree, but if it made them feel better, it should be made available to any rescue worker." The treatment, based on the writings of Scientology founder L. RON HUBBARD, has attracted a barrage of criticism in recent years over fears it is medically suspect.

Lopez, who recently appeared on US talent show DANCING WITH THE STARS, will star as a slick New York executive in the pilot of EIGHT DAYS A WEEK.
GET AWAY singer Milian is set to play a gorgeous ex-law career woman who takes an assistant’s job at an art gallery.
The programme, which bears similarities to the film THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA and television hit UGLY BETTY with its assistant/boss format, will launch on the new CBS/Warner Bros network.

Lifestyle queen MARTHA STEWART flew to Kazakhstan over the weekend (07-08APR07) to watch her reported boyfriend, software magnate CHARLES SIMONYI, become the world’s fifth space tourist.
Simonyi paid a reported $25 million (£12.8 million) to take a 13-day journey to the International Space Station (ISS) with two Russian cosmonauts.
Stewart, who is rumoured to be dating the billionaire Microsoft developer, explored the Kazakh town of Baikonur before providing her man with a tasty meal to take aboard the Soyuz rocket.
Stewart, 65, was clearly taken aback by the region’s breathtaking landscape saying, "Baikonur is beautiful."

Veteran pop star LULU is considering ditching her singing career to become a voice coach instead.
The SHOUT hitmaker recently appeared as a guest mentor on TV talent show AMERICAN IDOL and enjoyed the experience so much she’s eyeing a permanent move towards tutoring.
The 58-year-old says, "I could quite easily give up the day job and do mentoring all the time.
"I really did get very passionate about it. I had a ball and loved working with all the girls, mentoring them." Lulu also performed her 1967 hit TO SIR, WITH LOVE on the show.

Scottish musician EDWYN COLLINS is determined to finish an album he started just months before he suffered a massive stroke and caught an MRSA infection.
The A GIRL LIKE YOU singer had two brain haemorrhages in 2005 rendering him unable to walk, read or communicate.
After a long recovery period, Collins has re-entered the studio and is excited to unleash COMING HOME - the project he was working on prior to his shock health problems.
Collins, 47, says, "Singing and playing the guitar are difficult at the moment. But it’s great to be back in the studio.
"The album was ready for mixing just before I had my stroke. It was very bad timing! But we’re getting it done - it will be released in September."

British rocker RICH ARCHER is recovering after an amp blew up in his face during work on his band’s latest record.
The HARD-FI star was in the studio recording tracks for upcoming album ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE WEST when the electrical explosion occurred, but he miraculously escaped without serious injury.
Bandmate ROSS PHILLIPS recalls, "We did nearly lose Rich as a guitar amp went up in flames. We had to evacuate to avoid choking to death." However, he adds progress since the accident has been less chaotic: "There have been no major punch-ups and the tracks are cooking."

Legendary soul singer STEVIE WONDER has paid $29,250 (£15,000) for a Grammy Award he won in 1974 after the stolen statue was placed for sale on the auction website eBay.
The Best Album accolade, which Wonder received for his LP INNERVISIONS just months after emerging from a car accident-induced coma, was put online by a California auction house on behalf of an independent seller.
Police will not get involved because the award was never reported stolen.
In spite of the EBONY AND IVORY singer’s 22 Grammys, a friend tells British newspaper the Daily Mirror, "This one is special."

LATEST: Former US Vice President AL GORE’s forthcoming Live Earth gig will be moved to New York City, according to US reports.
Democrat Gore is planning a series of concerts across seven continents to raise awareness of global warming and had signed THE POLICE, KANYE WEST, FAITH HILL, BON JOVI and the RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS to perform on the steps of Washington D.C.’s Capitol Building on 7 July (07).
However, after controversy in the US Congress, where several politicians claimed the event was too left-wing to be on Capitol grounds, the event is expected to be transferred to New York.

Hip-hop mogul JAY-Z has vehemently denied he is the father of a Trinidadian model’s five-year-old son.
Recent internet reports suggest the rapper conceived a child with SHENELLE SCOTT, 26, in 2001 - three years after meeting on the set of his video BIG PIMPIN’.
Rumours claimed Jay-Z, real name SHAWN CARTER, paid Scott $1 million (£510,000) on condition his name was not on the baby’s birth certificate.
The tot was born on 30 January 2002 in Los Angeles.
However, the star’s spokesperson tells AllHipHop.com, "There is no truth to these ridiculous rumours.
"People should be ashamed of using this kind of story and exploiting a child for publicity and ratings." Jay-Z has been dating superstar BEYONCE KNOWLES since 2002.

GEORGE MICHAEL has slammed suggestions WHAM! will reform, insisting it would make no sense as he and former bandmember ANDREW RIDGELEY have moved on with their lives.
The CARELESS WHISPER hitmaker has turned down big money offers to reunite with Ridgeley on stage for the first time since they spit in 1986 because, he believes it would "be almost as bad as THE SEX PISTOLS when they reformed".

Troubled singer WHITNEY HOUSTON’s musical comeback hit a stumbling block when her songs were branded boring by R&B singer/songwriter NE-YO.
Ne-Yo, who wrote the BEYONCE KNOWLES song IRREPLACEABLE, was asked to give his opinion on eight songs on her new album and wasn’t impressed with what he heard.
He says, "They all had the same theme, which was, ‘My name is Whitney Houston and this is my triumphant comeback.’ "We all understand she has gone through a lot. I’m sure we all get that but I think she needs songs about regular everyday life.
"So that’s what I’m planning to add to the album - songs about everyday emotion."

Actress IMELDA STAUNTON was stunned to be offered the role as DOLORES UMBRIDGE in the latest HARRY POTTER film, because she had always thought the character was "short" and "ugly".
Umbridge is Harry Potter’s first female nemesis and will be seen in the forthcoming blockbuster movie HARRY POTTER AND THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX, but Oscar nominated actress Staunton wasn’t amused when she was asked to do the part.
She explains, "I read the book, and Umbridge is described as a short, ugly, toadlike woman. I thought, ‘Oh, thanks very much.’"

Cartoonist JOHNNY HART, famed for his B.C comic strips, has died from a stroke.
He was 76.
The artist died on Saturday (07APR07) while working at his home in Endicott, New Jersey.
The B.C comic strip was launched in 1958 and appeared in more than 1,300 newspapers worldwide.
Hart’s friend MELL LAZARUZ says, "He was generally regarded as one of the best cartoonists we’ve ever had." Hart is survived by his wife BOBBY and his two daughters PATTI and PERRI.
