HALLE BERRY has blasted US publication Parade for "regurgitating" a 10-year-old story about her suicide attempt - because she’s having to talk about her darkest moment all over again.
The sexy Oscar winner has rarely spoken about the time she started the process of poisoning herself with carbon monoxide in her car after the end of her first marriage to Baseball player DAVID JUSTICE - and now it’s front-page news.
Berry can only hope that the Parade story, which has grabbed headlines around the world, will be a comfort to others who are contemplating suicide.
She says, "It wasn’t my wish to go into all of that again in this time of my life. I talked about it on LARRY KING LIVE and OPRAH when it was relevant, and I felt like it was important to help other women and share it with them.
"Back in the day, I did feel empowered when I told that story and I felt, `This might help somebody because I survived it and I learned a lot.’ "But it’s just not where I am today and I really hate that it’s been presented like it is… I’m in such a great time in my life right now it wouldn’t be my wish to really revisit that period, but this outlet did and made it seem as if it were current again.
"Because I have a movie out some magazine has sensationalised some old material and it’s not something that I want to talk about. It’s 10 years old and I’m so past it."

Red-faced KELLY OSBOURNE "scuttled" away from a magazine party in Hollywood on Thursday night (05APR07) after realising she was at the wrong event.
The pop star looked confused when she showed up at the Elle is Freedom bash and faced an army of photographers.
She had planned to attend burlesque star DITA VON TEESE’s party at the same address, Boulevard3, and used the wrong entrance.
Photographer LILY CORTEZ says, "It was hilarious - she went from one red carpet to the other and looked really embarrassed. She literally scuttled away, covering her face."

Cult low-budget moviemaker BURT TOPPER has died of pulmonary failure in Los Angeles. He was 78.
The director was famous for making a string of `exploitation’ teen movies in the late 1950s, 60s and early 1970s.
These included DIARY OF A HIGH SCHOOL BRIDE and biker film THE HARD RIDE.
Topper made his name by turning in movies well under budget and sometimes weeks ahead of schedule - his 1959 movie, Diary of a High School Bride, cost $80,000 (GBP41,000) and took just seven days to film.

SIR ANTHONY HOPKINS takes great measures to reassure young actors he’s no temperamental diva - because he knows how intimidating people can ruin a movie.
The movie great takes trouble to personally meet his co-stars and insists they call him, simply, Tony in an effort to put them at their ease on set.
He says, "I hope I don’t intimidate people. I’m very easy to work with and I like to keep things light on the set.
"Sometimes actors can dominate a set and make it miserable, or directors, certainly, can do a great deal of harm - you’re not allowed to speak or make a mistake - and that’s awful for everyone.
"There are few of those around. I’ve worked with a few of them. They’re horrors, so I try and buck the system and make light of them (on set)."

The actor will be remembered at the intersection of 53rd Street and Eighth Avenue, which will be renamed in his honour.

The drunk driver who ended the lives of PORKY’S director BOB CLARK and his son has been charged with gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.
HECTOR VELAZQUEZ NAVA is being held on $200,000 (GBP102,000) bail in a Los Angeles jail, and faces a 12-year prison sentence if convicted.
Nava was arrested at the scene of the tragedy in Pacific Palisades, California in the early hours of Wednesday (04APR07).
Nava has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Country star GRETCHEN WILSON has raised a fortune for US children’s charities by playing a series of low-key bar gigs.
The REDNECK WOMAN singer’s 10-city Back to the Bars tour raised $1.5 million (GBP770,000) for charities like the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
She says, "We’ve done all these huge arenas and stadiums over the past three years, which has been amazing, but there’s nothing like playing for people standing just a few feet away.
"It was really rewarding to be able to go back to these cities and these radio stations who supported us from the very beginning and give something back."

Rapper/actor ICE CUBE has a secret skill - he’s a certified architect.
The FRIDAY star, who plays a hapless house fixer in new movie ARE WE DONE YET?, once studied architectural draft in Arizona while he was waiting for his rap career to take off.
He says, "When N.W.A was first about to pop off I wasn’t sure if I was gonna make a living at it… Cussin’ on the radio? I didn’t know if that was gonna bring me any money.
"So I ended up going to school in Phoenix and spending a year out there…
(but) I haven’t picked up my certificate since I got it.
"If you want me to draw you up a house I can draw you up a house; I don’t know if it’s gonna be liveable."

Rockers FALL OUT BOY have postponed the start of their upcoming North American tour, citing "personal issues." The group had planned to kick off their Honda-sponsored tour in North Carolina on 18 April (07), but now the trek will begin in Denver, Colorado next month (11MAY07).
One date in Sacramento, California has been cancelled.
In a statement, bass player PETE WENTZ writes, "Unfortunately, because of some personal issues, we had to delay the tour a few weeks.
"We want to put on the best possible show we can and know that this extra couple of weeks will give us the time to put ourselves in the right place to put on the best show we can."

Reformed trio THE POLICE have been rocked by fans who have turned their upcoming world tour into a sell-out because the bandmates didn’t think they were still so popular.
Most dates for the ROXANNE hitmakers’ world tour, which begins in Vancouver, Canada on 28 May (07), sold out within an hour of going on sale. And, in many cases, the group had to upgrade from arenas to stadiums - to cope with the demand for tickets.
Guitarist ANDY SUMMERS says, "I was shocked, I have to admit. I thought we’d do alright on ticket sales but I never expected such a high demand.
"We were booked to play arenas on many of the dates but we ended up having to upgrade to stadiums. It’s pretty daunting I have to admit."

R&B sensation AKON is looking to `out bling’ GUINNESS BOOK OF WORLD RECORDS inductee LIL’ JON by creating the biggest diamond pendant ever.
Rapper Lil’ Jon made history recently when his 12 pounds (5.4 kilograms), 73 carat Crunk Aint Dead piece earned him a place in the record books.
But Akon, who owns a diamond mine in his native Senegal, is hoping to trump his jewellery rival with a flashing pendant in the shape of Africa.
He tells Rolling Stone magazine, "I got this one piece that definitely will tear the whole game up; it covers my whole stomach.
"It’s the continent of Africa and the diamonds actually light up… It’s crazy.
"And the country where I’m from has a little lightbulb that constantly flashes. Mine weighs about 10-to-15 (pounds)… Once I show it off, I’m gonna auction it off and all the proceeds are going to go to my foundation." And Akon insists he’ll turn his back on the bling-bling game one he’s made the record books with the elaborate piece.
He adds, "I’m kinda retiring from the jewellery thing, the whole bling-bling thing… By next year you’re gonna see me with a simple watch, a simple necklace."

Rapper/actor ICE CUBE was more than a little amused when his XXX2: STATE OF THE UNION director was arrested as part of a transgender prostitution sting last year (06) - because he never liked the guy.
The IT WAS A GOOD DAY hitmaker admits he and LEE TAMAHORI constantly "bumped heads" while they made the 2005 action movie, and he found the director’s embarrassing arrest a real giggle.
Ice Cube says, "What was cool is after we finished the movie I read in the paper that he got arrested on Santa Monica Boulevard, dressed like a transvestite, so (it was) poetic justice." Tamahori, who also directed JAMES BOND movie DIE ANOTHER DAY, was arrested on a sex charge in Los Angeles last January (06), while wearing a black dress and a wig.
He was charged with prostitution and loitering, apparently after he offered to perform oral sex on an undercover cop for cash. Tamahori accepted a plea deal to escape prostitution charges.

MICHAEL JACKSON is looking towards the top of the US charts as he plans a major comeback - he’s asked R&B star AKON to help him return to the top.
Jackson has been working extensively with THE BLACK EYED PEAS star WILL.I.AM on his comeback album and now he’s planning a meeting with Senegalese star Akon, who currently holds America’s number one spot with DON’T MATTER and features on GWEN STEFANI’s number two hit THE SWEET ESCAPE.
The pair were supposed to meet up in Las Vegas last week (ends30MAR07) but previous commitments Akon had made to his charity foundation for African kids forced the R&B star to call off his date with the King Of Pop.
Akon is now hoping to meet with Jackson before the end of April (07) - and he already has big plans for the superstar’s comeback.
He tells Rolling Stone magazine, "I’m excited because I think it’s gonna be magic when we get together.
"All the stuff that he’s going through, that he’s been through the past two years, the stuff that’s been out in the media… the stuff that hasn’t been out, I think he needs to just take all that (and) put it in his records. It’s a big story.
"Nobody’s ever really heard Mike’s story… If he takes that and accepts what’s been out there and expresses his opinion, express his feelings, express what he felt on a record I think it’d take his whole album to a whole ‘nother level because the album now becomes a soundtrack of his life from that point to this point and that’s something people are gonna want to know about."

MANDY MOORE, HALLE BERRY and cancer survivor SHERYL CROW will be donning their walking boots next month (05MAY07) when they compete in the five kilometre (3.1 miles) Revlon Run/Walk For Women event.
Moore will compete in the 10th event in New York on 5 May (06) with Berry and then hop on a plane and join Crow and actor MICHAEL CHIKLIS at the 14th Run/Walk in Los Angeles the following week (12MAY07).
The fundraiser brings awareness to women’s cancer issues and helps raise money for research.
