Hollywood veteran MARTIN SHEEN was born with a handicap that left his father fearing he would never be able to work.
The WEST WING star, who received a police citation on Sunday (01APR07) for his involvement in an anti-nuclear protest in Nevada, had his shoulder crushed by forceps after his birth proved too difficult for normal delivery.
The 66-year-old actor tells Empire magazine, "I was a difficult birth and nearly died, I’m told, and they used forceps to pull me out into the world and they crushed my left shoulder, so officially I’m handicapped because I have no lateral movement in my left arm.
"So my dad kind of looked at me with an old world perspective, that I couldn’t make a living doing manual labour so I would have to have an education."
