GRAY OFFENDED BY DAVIS REQUEST

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 6:38 pm

Singer MACY GRAY was offended when music mogul CLIVE DAVIS asked her to record an audition tape after selling millions of albums.
The I TRY star, 39, left Sony Records in 2004 after lacklustre sales of her third album THE TROUBLE WITH BEING MYSELF, although her debut disc I Try had sold three million copies in the US.
Gray quickly looked around for a new record deal and approached J Records head Davis, who also acts as Chairman and CEO of BMG North America.
She says, "I had it in my head, ‘I’m Macy Gray, everyone’s going to be banging on my door,’ and that didn’t happen at all.
"I’d watch those VH1 one-hit wonder shows and I got really bad about that.
"I think Clive Davis asked me to send him a demo tape, which was, like, really insulting. Go to the record store, do you know what I mean? I was like, why don’t I call him and ask for his resume?"
