Captain Alexander Ulster, the Earl of Ulster, is in the same regiment as the young prince and they will both travel to the war torn country with the Blues and Royals next month. It is thought to be the only time in recent history two members of the British Royal Family have served in the same brigade on the same posting.
Cpt Ulster, 32, is the son of Prince Richard, Duke of Gloucester, who is Queen Elizabeth’s cousin and 18th in line to the throne.
A senior royal aide told Britain’s Sunday Mirror newspaper: ‘They are delighted to be going out to Iraq together in what has been dubbed the ‘Royal Brigade’.’ Although he has not yet left the country Harry has already planned his leave in detail. Last month it was revealed he would return in June for a polo tournament and memorial service for his mother Princess Diana.
It has now emerged he will get extra time off to attend another event marking the 10th anniversary of Diana’s death. The prince applied for ‘compassionate leave’ to join his family for the service at The Guards’ Chapel in Wellington Barracks on August 31, where both he and William are expected to give readings.
Clarence House confirmed: ‘Harry will be coming back for the memorial service, but he won’t be taking any more leave than he’s entitled to. It will be approved by his commanding officer.’

Officers with Scotland Yard’s Royalty Protection Squad called a meeting to discuss the issue after both brothers were pictured on drunken nights out last week.
Dai Davies, former head of the protection squad, also called for the princes to ‘reign it in’ on Saturday (31.03.07). A police source told Britain’s Sunday Express newspaper: ‘A conference has been held. The feeling is that the princes are putting themselves at unnecessary risk. What’s the point of having royal protection officers if their job is reduced to ferrying them to and from nightclubs when they are drunk?’ Harry, 22, was pictured falling over in the street outside a nightclub last month during an alleged spat with a paparazzi photographer. Meanwhile, William, 24, made headlines after being pictured with his arms around strangers at a Bournemouth nightclub looking inebriated. Dai said: ‘How they are alleged to have been behaving poses a security nightmare, frankly. With nightclubs, you have got the problem of the princes being surrounded by people using drugs. We already know that people plotting bombs have singled out nightclubs.
‘Of course, the princes are entitled to have a good time but that time should be structured.’ Prince Harry has also come under fire from his Army seniors, ahead of his scheduled May posting to Iraq. As a Blues and Royals officer, Harry is expected to set an example and conduct himself with dignity. He will also soon be in a position to discipline his lower ranked Army colleagues charged with drunken conduct. A source told Britain’s Daily Mail newspaper: ‘Before he goes to Iraq next month, Harry will be told in no uncertain terms that his conduct has to improve.’

Following advice from her son Prince Charles, the queen wants to turn the royal palaces into ‘models of green efficiency’ and hire advisers to reduce her carbon footprint.
A Buckingham Palace spokesman confirmed: ‘We are talking to a number of organisations about our carbon footprint to reduce the royal household’s impact on the environment. It is now part and parcel of the management policy here.’ Palace consultants will reportedly advise a reduction in the use of helicopters, chartered planes and trains, to decrease carbon emissions.
The queen and her husband Prince Philip made 380 trips in Britain and 45 overseas last year, while the royal train covered 9,8000 miles.
Environmental campaigners Friends of the Earth have urged the queen to use energy efficient light bulbs in Buckingham Palace - which has 40,000 lights - and change cars.
The queen currently uses two Bentley limousines and two Rolls-Royces. Plans have also been reported for an energy-efficient combined heat and power plant, which burns gas or wood. Boreholes could even replace air conditioning units used to cool the royal wine cellars.
Charles is expected to announce his Clarence House is ‘carbon neutral’ in July. The prince has been trying to offset his carbon emissions for the past two years. His projects have included fitting energy efficient light bulbs in South Africa and restoring Ugandan rainforests.

The Bond star beat a host of fellow celebrities to top the poll conducted by men’s magazine GQ. The 39-year-old actor gained worldwide sex-symbol status when he emerged from the sea as James Bond in ‘Casino Royale’ wearing a pair of tight pale blue trunks. The actress - who recently adopted Vietnamese son Pax Thien, and also has a Cambodian son Maddox and Ethiopian daughter Zahara - reportedly wants to adopt a girl from Chad to "balance the family".
A source discussing Angelina’s family - which also consists of Cambodian son Maddox, Ethiopian daughter Zahara and Angelina’s natural daughter Shiloh with lover Brad Pitt - said: "Angelina and Brad want to make sure Zahara doesn’t feel alienated as the only black face in their family.
"She feels the children need a balance of faces in their life." Angelina is said to have fallen in love with a one-year-old girl from Oure Cassoni and asked her lawyers to begin the adoption process.
The source added to Britain’s News of the World newspaper: "She is hoping to have her daughter home by the summer." Angelina, 31, recently hinted that she wanted to have a balanced family.
She said: "Should you balance the races, so there’s another African person in the house for Zahara, after another Asian person in the house for Mad? We think so.
"Shiloh has Brad and me to look at." Meanwhile, three-year-old Pax’s mother Pham Thu Dung, 29, has spoken of her heartache at losing her son.
Dung said: "He is better off with a movie star because I am not a good mother. I wasn’t able to take care of my baby, I left him." Pax was abandoned in hospital when he was two days old because Dung couldn’t afford to pay his £15 medical bill.
She added: "My dream is that one day he’ll visit me and call me mother. But it’s only a dream. I know it is impossible."

The singer has returned to her Puerto Rican roots with a new album of Spanish love songs and says her diva demands are in the past.

Emily Diane Leatherman, 32, was arrested at 3.36pm on Thursday (29.03.07) after turning up unannounced at Cruise’s Beverly Hills home.
Leatherman claimed that the ‘Top Gun’ star’s staff had given her permission to meet him.
John Cusack won a three-year restraining order against a woman with the same name and age last July, accusing her of showing an "unusual interest" in him.
He claimed Leatherman threw love letters, rocks and screwdrivers into his garden.
Cusack also said Leatherman visited his home unannounced. At the time, Leatherman said she was trying to contact Hollywood stars like Cusack because she wanted to bring attention to the fact she was raped years ago.
The Beverly Hills Police Department has refused to confirm if the person arrested on Thursday was the same woman who targeted Cusack.
Leatherman was arrested at Cruise’s home on suspicion of receiving stolen property and violating a restraining order.
Sergeant Rex McEvoy refused to confirm what the items were or which restraining order she had violated.
It is not known if Cruise and his wife Katie Holmes were at home when the incident happened.

Paul’s security team were left shaken as the man drove into The Beatles legend’s Peasmarsh estate, in Sussex, screaming, "I must get to him".
A source told Britain’s News of the World newspaper: "It was terrifying. This guy put the fear of God into everyone because they thought he wanted to kill Paul. This was the most frightening incident they’ve ever had at Peasmarsh. "Everyone was terrified that the guy could turn nasty. No one knew if he was armed." Security guards managed to stop the man reaching Paul’s home by activating an emergency gate, but only after he had managed to get within yards of Paul’s house.
The intruder who fled before police arrived on the scene was arrested after a three-mile high-speed chase.
The man has now been sectioned and detained in a local psychiatric hospital.
A police spokesman said: "We received a call from a security officer at Peasmarsh and later arrested a man at his home address. He was initially arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and failing to stop when challenged by police. "He was later detained under the Mental Health Act and is not facing criminal charges." Paul, 64, was not at home when the terrifying incident happened as he was having lunch locally with friends.

The singer’s spokeswoman announced the happy news on Friday (30.03.07), revealing Usher has proposed to stylist lover Tameka Foster.
Publicist Simone Smalls didn’t provide any further details, although Usher, 28, has previously said he would love to marry before the end of the year.
