Travolta stars in the remake of the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical and spent four hours each day getting into costume for his role as EDNA TURNBLAD.
The 53-year-old says, "I had no particular urge to play a woman, but it made me realise how much power women have over men.
"Guys would flirt with me on set. You just need breasts and a bum and suddenly you have power! Everyone was feeling me. It was fake, of course, but I thought ‘This is weird.’"

"I was so touched by what he was saying, I started to cry and couldn’t stop.
Tears were streaming down my face. But because I was off-camera, I had to be quiet; I couldn’t even sniffle.

WAHLBERG ‘TOUGHED OUT’ MARINE TRAINING

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 6:35 pm

MARK WAHLBERG pretended to enjoy training with US Marines in preparation for his role as a sniper in new movie SHOOTER, because he didn’t want them thinking he was a wimp.
The 35-year-old, who plays ex-marksman BOB LEE SWAGGER in the ANTOINE FUQUA-directed film, had to spend real time at weapon training facility Front Sight in order to understand the reality of his character.
He says, "I didn’t enjoy it at all. I pretended to enjoy it, I acted like I was going to like it, but I’m pretty lazy and it was very intense.
"Once you’re on their turf they like to push you around a little bit. They like to test you and see if you’re man enough to handle it or they’ll call your agent - so I toughed it out."

McKELLEN SLAMS PRODUCERS FOR ‘KEEPING STARS IN CLOSET’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 6:35 pm

SIR IAN McKELLEN has hit out at Hollywood movie producers for encouraging homosexual actors to remain ‘in the closet’.
The X-MEN star, who revealed he was gay on British radio in 1988, has in the past criticised actors for not ‘coming out’.
But the 67-year-old now blames the forces behind the film industry for pressuring homosexual actors to keep their sexuality a secret.
McKellen says, "With all that liberal attitude (in Hollywood), you have a local industry which is saying to local people who live in the area - ‘When you come to work, you are not gay.’ "And I think to myself, ‘Can people whose minds work like that make good films? And if at the heart of Hollywood there is that lie, how many other lies are there?’ "And it’s the producers who have this problem - God knows what sort of people they are - who think that it’s impossible for you and me to fancy the same person.
"Well, what dull lives they must have."

MARADONA NOT SUFFERING FROM ‘REAL ALCOHOLISM’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 6:32 pm

LATEST: Argentine soccer legend DIEGO MARADONA was admitted to hospital last week (ends30MAR07) for reasons relating to stress and not just too much alcohol, according to his doctor.
The sporting ace, 46, is in a "stable" condition in a Buenos Aires hospital, where he was taken against his will, after over-indulging in food, alcohol and tobacco.
But physician ALFREDO CAHE believes stress was an important contributor towards Maradona’s condition.
Cahe says, "It isn’t real alcoholism. There was alcohol, diet, tobacco in excess, most certainly issues of privacy and of a high level of stress that was happening. All of that in greater or smaller amounts has affected him at this moment." Cahe describes Maradona’s condition as "fine and stable", although he will have to remain hospitalised for another week.
This is the latest in a string of health problems for the 46-year-old, who suffered heart attacks in 2000 and 2004 after overdosing on cocaine.
In 2005, Maradona slimmed down after undergoing gastric bypass surgery.

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 6:29 pm

A church in Dublin, Ireland yesterday (01APR07) held a Sunday service featuring the music of legendary rockers U2.
Around 150 people attended the service at the Anglican St George and St Thomas’s Church, which was kitted out with concert-style lighting, video screens and dry ice, to sing hits like I STILL HAVEN’T FOUND WHAT I’M LOOKING FOR and ONE.

Kylie Minogue is said to be distraught after learning her ex-lover Olivier Martinez has set up home with his new girlfriend.

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:53 pm

Kylie and Olivier split in February amid rumours the French actor was having an affair with 24-year-old model Sarai Givati. Olivier, 41 - who had been seen with the Israeli beauty on several occasions while he and Kylie were still an item – has now moved into a plush Beverly Hills apartment with Sarai A source in the US told Britain’s Daily Express newspaper: "Olivier and Sarai have moved in together and they are inseparable. Understandably Kylie is upset. To her it looks like he was cheating on her with Sarai. But even if he wasn’t, she still thinks it’s all happened too quickly. The only time Kylie and Olivier kind of set up home was when he was looking after her in Paris when she was having her cancer treatment." The Australian pop superstar had previously rubbished claims Olivier been unfaithful to her during their four year relationship.
She also refused to rule out a reunion, saying last month: "I still speak to Olivier and you never know what will happen in the future."

David and Victoria Beckham are still house-hunting in Los Angeles because they refuse to be ripped off by greedy house owners.

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:53 pm

The couple - who are moving to the US this summer after soccer star David signed a deal with Los Angeles Galaxy – are refusing to bow to sellers trying to take advantage of their wealth by bumping up the price of prospective properties.
A source told People magazine: ‘It’s pretty hard to keep identities secret when you are interested in multimillion-dollar mansions. Once sellers find out who’s interested in buying, the prices skyrocket. It’s ridiculous.
‘One mansion recently went up by millions once the owner found out the Beckhams were interested. But they will not pay in excess purely because of who they are. They are careful with their money.’ However, Victoria has had more success looking for private schools for her children, Brooklyn, eight, Romeo, four, and two-year-old Cruz.
The Beckhams’ Stateside move is being filmed for a six-part NBC fly-on-the wall documentary.
However, insiders say the programme could be scrapped because the couple have failed to rope in any of their A-list friends to make guest appearances.
A source said: ‘So far, all that’s been filmed is Victoria house-hunting and her quest to find schools for the kids, which hardly makes scintillating viewing.
‘David and Victoria are not well known out there and they have not yet been able to convince any of their celebrity friends to come on.’

Lizzie had her first appearance on the catwalk with mother Jerry – who warned her daughter about the pitfalls of the industry.
Lizzie revealed: "My mum said, ‘Don’t get competitive with the other girls or get involved in the politics of the job, just be yourself. Also, get lots of sleep, drink lots of water and be helpful to people.’"

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:52 pm

One local resident said: "Everyone is seething about the noise. The whole area shakes. There won’t be many inviting him round for coffee when he finally arrives." Builders are using two generators and a compressor to dig underground to make space for the features Gervais has requested.
The ‘Night at the Musuem’ star is currently house hunting in New York and has demanded his personal ‘property finder’ help him spend his allotted £3 million on a home big enough to entertain his new Hollywood friends.

Cillian Murphy had a bout of claustrophobia while filming new movie ‘Sunshine’.

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:52 pm

Cillian Murphy had a bout of claustrophobia while filming new movie ‘Sunshine’. The ‘Red Eye’ actor plays an astronaut in the sci-fi adventure but found the restrictive spacesuit he had to wear suffocating.
Cillian said: "It was not pleasant getting inside that suit. It was big, it was cumbersome, it was intensely claustrophobic and very sweaty. To move at all was one hell of an effort.
"And this was all during the summer heatwave of last year. It’s not an experience I would want to repeat." The 30-year-old Irish star shot to fame in ‘28 Days Later’ in 2002, before going on to feature in a host hit films, including ‘Cold Mountain’ and ‘Batman Begins’.
‘Sunshine’ also stars Australian beauty Rose Byrne and ‘Fantastic Four’ actor Chris Evans.
