The 2007 Diesel-U-Music competition - that previously discovered The Magic Numbers - kicks off on Monday (02.04.07).
Unsigned bands have until May 15 to submit their songs in the following categories - rock/indie, electronic/dance or rap/hip-hop.
Judges, which have previously included Rolling Stone Ronnie Wood, DJ Mylo and music producer Mark Ronson, will decide the shortlist which will be announced on May 30.
The public can then vote for their favourite in each category at www.diesel.com between June 1 and June 30.
The overall winners will be announced next October, and will perform at a live televised final awards event.
The event, founded by fashion label Diesel, is now in its seventh year.
