Philip - the husband of Britain’s Queen Elizabeth - was given a tour of the £5.3 million 6,000-square-metre Gorilla Kingdom, which has been carefully created to mimic the creatures’ natural habitat. The royal had the chance to get quite close to male gorilla Bobby, who witnesses said appeared to ’serenade’ the duke. Zookeepers hope silverback Bobby will be encouraged by his new surroundings - which boast waterfalls, hills and caves - to mate with female Effie. Effie - who has already mothered twice - has been dubbed the Kate Moss of the Zoo because she is so slim and attractive. Philip was able to examine the impressive enclosure through large glass panels surrounding it.
