Father of speed
A Portuguese priest who owns a ’souped-up’ Ford Fiesta has been asked to "resist the temptations of speed" by road safety campaigners.
Father Antonio Rodrigues has been boasting about the rapid acceleration of his 150-horse-power Ford Fiesta 2000 ST - the only one in Portugal - according to the Association of Motorist Citizens.
In a letter to the Pope, the association said: "We ask Your Holiness to help this unfortunate priest to ponder the gravity of his acts and the immodesty of his words and to resist the temptations of speed and boasting." The priest has insisted he is "not a speed freak".
