Heather Mills is shocked by the support she has received during ‘Dancing with the Stars’.
Heather, who reached the second round of the US TV show after performing a daring back flip this week, is delighted the routine sparked such a positive reaction from viewers.
The former model, the estranged wife of Sir Paul McCartney, said: "I wanted to show what I could do. I wanted to take the stigma away from the disability. "But I’m touching people I didn’t expect to touch." Heather, 39, has admitted the difficult move she performed on Monday’s show (26.03.07) was a risk.
She said: "I’m lucky it paid off." Heather’s mambo routine with professional dance partner Jonathan Roberts scored highly with the judges and viewers, putting them in fifth place out of 11 couples after two performances.
Her first routine attracted much criticism and the show’s website was bombarded with scathing comments.
Heather revealed she begged producers to let her have a gay dancing partner so she wouldn’t have to contend with relationship rumours.
She said: ‘I asked for a gay guy. I said, ‘I haven’t had a date in 10 months and yet I’ve been associated with all these different people, which is rubbish.’ ‘ ‘Jonathan turned up and I said, ‘Are you gay?’ And he said, ‘No, I’m not, I’m married.’ He’s just a great person.’
