CRAVEN TAKES CREDIT FOR ARQUETTE/COX LOVE MATCH
Horror movie mogul WES CRAVEN turned matchmaker on the set of SCREAM when he brought Hollywood couple DAVID ARQUETTE and COURTENEY COX together.
The director knew both stars were attracted to each other, but former FRIENDS star Cox was terrified of her co-star crush’s wild reputation.
Craven recalls, "At one point David was really attracted to her and she was kind of leery. David was pretty wild in those days.
"At a party one time… I said, ‘David, let’s take a walk…’ and I said, ‘Listen, think of me as your father, Courteney really likes you but she’s scared to death of your behaviour, so just pull it back a little.’ And he did.
"He sort of straightened up and flew right." Arquette and Cox wed in 1999 and have been happily married ever since.
