HANK WILLIAMS LYRICS NOT STOLEN
LATEST: Theft charges against a memorabilia collector and a janitor have been dropped after a Tennessee judge declared there was insufficient evidence to prove they stole a notebook containing lyrics to HANK WILLIAMS’ unrecorded songs.
Charges were filed against STEPHEN M SHUTTS and FRANCINE BOYKIN after janitor Boykin said she found the notebook in a box of trash taken from Sony/ATV Music Publishing’s office in Nashville.
She and her husband then sold the box to Shutts last year (06).
Williams’ estate claims the item was stolen and are still pressing a civil suit for the recovery of the notebook, which contains lyrics the country icon wrote in the late 1940s and is valued at $250,000 (£128,200). (KL/WNWMCMT/IG) WENN - FIRST - HOLLYWOOD, SHOWBIZ & PEOPLE NEWS - 19 MARCH 2007
