MARTIN TO HEAD PUERTO RICO DAY PARADE
Latin pop star RICKY MARTIN has been crowned king of the forthcoming 50th annual National Puerto Rican Day Parade in New York City.
Parade organisers have honoured the LIVIN’ LA VIDA LOCA singer for his international success and charity work for children.
Parade Committee President MADELYN LUGO says, "He has always expressed his pride as a Puerto Rican and a Latino.
"He has served as one of our greatest ambassadors, and we can’t think of a better role model to honour as the King of the Parade." Martin is the first ‘king’ of the parade, which takes place in June (07).
Other honorees have been named ‘grand marshal’ or ‘godfather’.
The 35-year-old singer says,"I am honoured and very humbly accept the invitation to participate in the 50th anniversary of the national Puerto Rican parade."
