FORMER FIGURE SKATER TONYA HARDING CAUGHT UNDER THE INFLUENCE
Disgraced US figure skater TONYA HARDING called police in Vancouver, Washington early on Sunday morning (11MAR07) while allegedly under the influence of methamphetamines.
Clark County Sheriff’s deputies responded to two calls regarding the troubled 36-year-old, who was described in police reports as being "very agitated".
SGT TIM BEIBER tells The Oregonian newspaper police received the first call at around 5am.
According to the police report, Harding said four men and a woman tried to break into her car and steal it.
In his report, the deputy wrote that Harding’s account was "very implausible." She told police she was on "new medication" and was suffering from an adverse reaction.
Later that morning, police received yet another call regarding Harding from a friend, who told authorities she was "seeing animals." According to police, the deputy took Harding back to her trailer and checked her home to "put her at ease." Harding made headlines during the 1994 US Figure Skating Championships for her part in the conspiracy to harm rival skater NANCY KERRIGAN during a practice session.
