As the queen emerged from the coastal city’s £8 million Jubilee Library, she met with a crowd of locals gathered to welcome Her Majesty, and many presented her with flowers. Lucas Whisker, 2, approached the queen and held out his hand, gesturing for one of her flowers. Happy to oblige, Elizabeth - who has seven grandchildren of her own - handed the child a pink tulip given to her by a little girl. The queen, 80, smiled as the content child made his way back to his mother, Clare Milner-Smith, 34, from Brighton. Clare told Britain’s The Sun newspaper: ‘He saw the queen receiving all these flowers and decided he wanted one. She was obviously pleased to give him one of her flowers and Lucas was delighted. He had a really enjoyable day.’
