Robo-pigeon
Chinese scientists have invented a remote-controlled pigeon.
The designers steer the Robo-pigeon by sending commands via a computer to electrodes implanted in the bird’s brain.
The electrodes then send electrical signals telling the pigeon which way to move.
Su Xuecheng from the Shandong University of Science and Technology said: "It’s the first such successful experiment on a pigeon in the world." Animal rights campaigners were not impressed with the experiment.
A spokesman for PETA: "Pigeons are not inanimate remote-controlled toys.
Manipulating the brains of animals is cruel."
