Pizza Virgin

Posted in: Bizzare Stories — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 6:00 pm

US dinner ladies say they have found an image of the Virgin Mary on a pizza dish.
The staff at a school in Houston, Texas, first spotted the mark on Ash Wednesday and unsuccessfully tried to scrub it away.
Worker Guadalupe Rodriguez said: "On the third rinse I started watching it, trying to discover what it was. It appeared to me to look like the Virgin Mary." Now people are flocking to the makeshift shrine to see the divine vision.
One pupil revealed: "They said, ‘The Virgin is in the cafeteria’ and I ran over there to see. My God, it was the Virgin. I cried when I saw her with my own eyes." The school’s principle says they have been blessed with the image.
Lyda Guerrero said: "I think someone is watching over this community and this school district and this school."

Posted in: Bizzare Stories — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 6:00 pm

A German man caught speeding has blamed his bored pet cockatoo.
Walter Konehauser, 45, who now faces losing his licence, says he wanted to cheer up his bored bird and decided to take him for a drive.
Walter said: "She was bored at home and I wanted to take her for a ride." He was stopped by police while doing 60mph in a 30mph zone in Augsburg and now faces dangerous driving charges.
A police spokesman said: "He should have had the bird in a cage, but when he was stopped it was flying around the car, and could easily have obscured his vision, causing an accident, or caused him to miss important signs like the one telling him to slow down."

Britain’s oldest worker used Kung Fu to fight off a gang of muggers.
Buster Martin, a 100-year-old World War II veteran from South London, was confronted by three teenagers as he was leaving a pub.
When they tried to steal his wallet, Buster demonstrated his terrifying martial arts moves and sent the attackers fleeing empty-handed.
Buster, who is a car washer-and-mechanic, said: "They thought I was an easy target but they didn’t realise what a fighter I can be. They pushed me against a wall and tried to take my money.
"I went mad, I pushed one and Kung Fu kicked another one between the legs.
They ran off scared and I kept my money." Buster, who hasn’t taken a day off sick in 80 years, came to work the next day despite having a bruised rib.

A US man was arrested after trying to cash a cheque from God.
Kevin Russell, 21, from Gary, Indiana, visited his local bank with a $50,000 cheque signed "King Saviour, King of Kings, Lord of Lords, Servant".
When police were called to the scene they found several other cheques signed in the same way, for amounts of up to $100,000.
Police detective Jeff White said: "I’ve heard about God giving out eternal life, but this is the first time I’ve heard of Him giving out cash." Russell was charged with one count of attempted cheque fraud, one count of intimidation and one count of resisting law enforcement.
He faces a jail sentence of up to seven years.

A Bulgarian football fan wants to change his name to Manchester United.
Marin Levidzhev, from Veliko Tarnovo, has spent two years pursuing his case in court and is now legally allowed to call himself Manchester Levidzhev.
Local magistrates stopped him from changing his surname to United, ruling that being an ardent supporter of the English club is not a good enough reason.
Levidzhev said: "I feel as if I am only at the half-time break. I won’t feel right until I get my name changed to Manchester United.
"I love the club. It’s my whole life and I want my name to reflect that." He now plans to take his case to a higher court.

Natalia Serepova, 33, from Stavropol, was furious when local officials refused to change the Satanic number bestowed on her child and decided to take legal action.
She said: "I will not have my daughter given this number. It is the seal of the AntiChrist. It is the number of the beast and Satanic. It soils the soul of any Christian." A local court is due to hold an initial hearing on March 7.

  • Feast thief

Posted in: Bizzare Stories — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:34 pm

An unemployed German man has appeared in court after stealing a feast for 60 people.
The 46-year-old, from Dortmund, used a false name to order the 3,700 Euro buffet, asking it to be sent to the club house of a garden allotment site.
After the caterers delivered the food the man called up the company telling them they had made a mistake and he would be returning the food.
He then loaded up the order into his car and took it to his friends.
Judge Gerhard Breuer said: "The man said he wanted to treat his friends to something special. I told him his story would make a good movie." The man received a five-month suspended jail term and was ordered to repay his debt to the catering company.

A Belgium university lecturer has infuriated his students by throwing out 700 exam papers with the rubbish.
Hugo Schouppe, who teaches at the Lessius High School, in Antwerp, had taken the psychology papers home to mark.
A cleaner then found the pile of papers on his desk and, mistaking them for waste, threw them away.
Schouppe told the Antwerp Gazette newspaper: "I regret it from the bottom of my heart.
The students have all been told they must take the exam again.
One angry pupil said: "They made an error and we have to pay for it. It’s a scandal."

  • Re-test crash

Posted in: Bizzare Stories — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:33 pm

An 80-year-old US woman injured 11 people when she crashed into a driving test centre moments after re-taking her exam.
Therese Smith drove her car straight through the wall of the Deerfield Beach office, in Florida, and into a waiting room full of people.
Luckily, no one was seriously hurt in the incident.
The elderly lady had been summoned to re-take her test and was leaving the premises when the accident occurred.
Bizarrely, videotape from a surveillance camera shows a man dressed in a Superman costume walking around the scene of the crash, but he did not offer assistance.

  • Robo-pigeon

Posted in: Bizzare Stories — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:33 pm

Chinese scientists have invented a remote-controlled pigeon.
The designers steer the Robo-pigeon by sending commands via a computer to electrodes implanted in the bird’s brain.
The electrodes then send electrical signals telling the pigeon which way to move.
Su Xuecheng from the Shandong University of Science and Technology said: "It’s the first such successful experiment on a pigeon in the world." Animal rights campaigners were not impressed with the experiment.
A spokesman for PETA: "Pigeons are not inanimate remote-controlled toys.
Manipulating the brains of animals is cruel."

  • Barking law

Posted in: Bizzare Stories — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:33 pm

A US city is to make it illegal for dogs to bark excessively.
Clifton City Council, in New Jersey, will introduce a law against noisy canines later this month.
Owners could now face a fine of $250 if their dog barks for more than 30 minutes on two consecutive days.
Council officials say existing nuisance and "noise laws that can be used to address annoying and disturbing noises such as constant barking" are too difficult to enforce, and they need stricter guidelines.
Last year, the city Heath Department sent 11 letters warning owners they could face a court summons if their dogs continued to cause a disturbance.
However, summons rarely materialise as the person complaining must also go to court to sign a complaint.

An artwork comprised of over £8,000 worth of real money bills has been stolen from a Norwegian gallery.
Thieves made off with the piece, entitled ‘Relative Value’, after breaking into the MGM Galleri in Oslo on Sunday (25.02.07).
Artist Jan Christensen created the work by pasting bills amounting to approximately £8,300 on a 7ft x 13ft canvas.
Christensen told Norwegian news agency NTB: "That was a pretty dramatic incident.
"We were afraid of something like this. The picture was insured and the gallery was equipped with an alarm." The artist - who used money from his own pocket for the piece - did not say whether he was planning to make a new version.

Police were called to the scene by people living close to the ground who heard the commotion.
Milnovic was arrested and charged with damaging private property.

Posted in: Bizzare Stories — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:33 pm

A Chinese shop is selling excuses.
Tuofu, in Wuhu city, offers various excuses ranging from 80p for common excuses to £100 for breaking off a marriage.
A spokesman said: "Our break-up excuses can minimise suffering, and we can even make up excuses for people who want to date in secret without arousing the suspicions of their mates." A Beijing Times reporter phoned the shop to ask for an excuse "to borrow money from friends".
A shop assistant told the journalist the shop could only guarantee the excuse would be well-received, not that it would work.

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 4:55 pm

Show creator Ryan Murphy has invited the Oscar-winning actress to guest star and has even started writing an episode for her.
Ryan said: ‘I was talking to Nicole recently and she said, ‘I want you to write me a part in ‘Nip/Tuck’.’ So I think I’m going to write a part where she comes in and she’s wearing that Virginia Woolf nose. She’s hilarious and I love her.’ The 39-year-old actress won an Oscar for her performance as writer Virginia Woolf in ‘The Hours’ for which she wore an large prosthetic nose.
Company insiders at production firm FX say Nicole is yet to confirm.
A source said: ‘The cameo hasn’t been agreed. We still don’t know if it will definitely go ahead.’ Nicole and Ryan will be working together on new movie ‘The Need’ later this year, about a woman who has an affair with her therapist’s husband.

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 4:55 pm

The 48-year-old confessed she turns to Guy for style guidance and seeks his approval when it comes to fashion.
Madonna told Elle magazine: ‘I try my designs out on my husband - I put on an outfit and say, ‘Do you like this?’ and he says, ‘Oh yes, that’s cool.’ ‘I think he pretty much approves of how I dress. Although once he said, ‘I like the dress you’re almost wearing.’ Madonna insists she also has input in what Guy wears and prefers it when he dresses smartly.
She said: ‘I like it when my husband wears suits and I tell him that on a regular basis. He is very obedient in the clothes department!’ Madonna, who is set to launch a fashion line with high street retailers H and M, can’t understand why anyone would want to wear something they bought a year ago.
She added: ‘I don’t want to look back. Who wants to wear last year’s clothes? There are too many things to buy!’
