DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES star MARCIA CROSS was eager to give birth to her twin daughters after more than a month of doctor-ordered bed rest. Cross, 44, gave birth to fraternal twin girls EDEN and SAVANNAH on 20 February (07).
A source tells American publication People, "By the end she was definitely tired of being in bed!" The girls are the first children for Cross and her stockbroker husband of eight months, TOM MAHONEY.
The source says, "The family is home, and it’s all mellow and happy there." The star, who plays BREE VAN DE CAMP on the hit show, filmed scenes from her bedroom while she was pregnant and plans to return for the series finale. Cross’ co-star BRENDA STRONG adds, "She’ll be an easy-going mom. I don’t see her stressing at all."

Former CHEERS star JOHN RATZENBERGER has signed up for reality TV show DANCING WITH THE STARS.
Ratzenberger, who played CLIFF CLAVIN on the popular sitcom for 11 seasons, is replacing actor VINCENT PASTORE.
Pastore dropped out of the competition earlier this week (begs26FEB07), claiming the intense training for the show was too physically demanding.
The show’s producer, CONRAD GREEN, tells American publication People, "Vincent just turned 60 and he had a heart condition last year. "Once he started training he said, ‘Wow. What have I got myself into?’" Despite only having three weeks to rehearse for the show’s 19 March (07) premiere, Ratzenberger insists he will be ready to compete.
His representative adds, "He likes to cut a rug. People will be surprised." The 59-year-old joins fellow cast members including HEATHER MILLS, JOEY FATONE, IAN ZIERING, BILLY RAY CYRUS and PAULINA PORIZKOVA.

A New Jersey judge has barred one of the people handling the affairs of the late singer CELIA CRUZ from making any deals regarding her estate.
The decision came at the request of the other executor for the Cruz estate, as well as the guardian appointed to represent Cruz’s husband, PEDRO KNIGHT, who died last month (FEB07).
Co-executor OMER PARDILLO had charged that co-executor LUIS FALCON was spending money intended for Cruz’s husband, who had been ailing before his death on 3 February (07).
According to the lawsuit filed by Pardillo, Falcon had drained funds from accounts for Knight, made extravagant expenditures and failed to account for transfers of more than $1 million (£513,000) from Cruz’s estate. Cruz, who was known as the ‘Queen of Salsa’, died of a brain tumour in 2003.

LATEST: BOBBY BROWN failed to appear on a radio station’s morning show today (02MAR07) after it posted $19,150 (£9,820) to bail the singer out of jail.
The Washington, D.C. radio station funded the troubled singer’s release from jail Wednesday (28FEB07) in exchange for forthcoming appearances on air.
The 38-year-old was arrested in Attelboro, Massachusetts on Sunday night (25FEB07) for failing to pay child support to his ex-girlfriend KIM WARD, who is the mother of his children, LaPRINCIA, 17, and BOBBY JR, 14.
Radio station staff members from Hot 99.5 are furious with the star and posted a message on their website saying, "If you have been listening to The Kane Show this morning on Hot 99.5, then you already know what’s happening.
Bobby Brown has backed out on his part of our deal to pay his back child support in return for appearing on The Kane Show for one week." An arrest warrant was previously issued for the DON’T BE CRUEL singer in October (06) when he failed to attend a child support court hearing, but he was released after immediately paying $11,000 (£5,640) to avoid arrest.
In June 2004, Brown was sentenced to 90 days jail after falling behind on child support payments, but paid $15,000 (£7,700) and the sentence was suspended.
Brown is currently in the middle of divorcing superstar WHITNEY HOUSTON after 14 years of marriage.

Singer KELIS was arrested early today (02MAR07) in Miami Beach, Florida after allegedly screaming racial obscenities at two female police officers.
The officers were working undercover posing as prostitutes in South Beach when they say Kelis started screaming racial slurs at them.
According to entertainment website TMZ.com, the singer continued yelling at the women and rushed toward them and had to be restrained by friends.
According to a police report, her "actions caused people walking by to stop and form a crowd. "The sidewalk was blocked by the disturbance, causing people to walk in the street and causing traffic to stop." The MILKSHAKE singer, who is married to rapper NAS, was charged with two misdemeanour charges of disorderly conduct and for resisting arrest.

Acclaimed film maker DAVID LYNCH will this weekend (3MAR07) open a macabre new art exhibition in Paris, France, which features erotic photographs and paintings of decomposing bodies.
Called Air Is On Fire, the display, featuring items which date back to the 61-year-old’s school days, goes on show at the Cartier Foundation and focuses on the unsettling themes of his movies BLUE VELVET and ERASERHEAD.
Exhibition curator HELENE KELMACHTER referred to the images as "disturbing", however Lynch told reporters he was "very happy" with the work and that "so much of this is ideas that have nothing to do with an intellectual thing. It’s an intuitive journey." The exhibition runs until 27 May (07).

SPIKE LEE has called upon New York Mayor MICHAEL BLOOMBERG to help him prepare for his new TV series about the prestigious position.
The director spent some time with Bloomberg at Manhattan’s City Hall on Wednesday (28FEB07) to discuss his plans for M.O.N.Y (Mayor Of New York), which Lee will direct, the New York Post reports.
The show will be about an "an outspoken public advocate who becomes the interim mayor of New York".

ANNA NICOLE SMITH’s funeral in the Bahamas has taken place, despite last minute attempts by her mother to stop the service.
VIRGIE ARTHUR filed a petition in an attempt to stall the funeral, but it was rejected this morning (2MAR07) by a Bahamian court. Smith’s ex-husband BILLY SMITH yesterday (1MAR07) applied to exhume the remains of their son DANIEL and move them from the Bahamas to his native Texas.
Despite the court furore, hundreds of Bahamians turned out to watch Anna Nicole Smith’s coffin arrive on a private jet and make its way to the Mount Horeb Baptist Church in Nassau where it was carried along a red carpet.
Around 300 guests attended a private service at the church.
Later today, Smith will be taken to Lakeview Memorial Park cemetery where she will be buried next to her son Daniel, in a ceremony watched by around 30 close friends and family members.

Former SUEDE frontman BRETT ANDERSON was saved from sure death by his bedroom door when a falling tree ripped through his house during a storm 20 years ago.
The British singer-songwriter was 20 years old when the infamous 1987 storm battered England, and was in bed when an oak tree came crashing onto his house.
He explains, "I was woken up at about four in the morning by a tree breaking the spine of the house. A huge oak tree had toppled over and stopped two feet away from my head.

All 370,000 tickets for British pop band TAKE THAT’s latest UK tour have been bought by fans in under three hours.

Jazz star WYNTON MARSALIS has launched a scathing attack on some of the biggest names in hip-hop - claiming the musical genre debases African-American culture.
Using rap mogul 50 CENT and LUDACRIS as an example, Marsalis - widely regarded as one of the best jazz musicians of modern times - claims rappers insult their own people with the language they use, the clothes they wear and the message they give out.
He says, "I call it ghetto minstrelsy. Old school minstrels used to say they were ‘real darkies from the real plantation’. Hip-hop substitutes the plantation for the streets.

Scottish rocker KYLE FALCONER has been fined £1,000 ($1,900) for possession of cocaine, wrecking his band THE VIEW’s plans to conquer America.
Falconer, 19, was arrested after police found him in possession of 2.5 grams of cocaine after the band performed in Dundee last August (06).
The frontman raced to Dundee Sheriff’s Court after picking up an NME Award in London last night (01MAR07).
His solicitor pleaded for an absolute discharge pointing out to the court a drug conviction would seriously harm the group’s plans to tour the North America - dates in the US and Canada have already been cancelled, because of the charges.
Falconer’s solicitor said, "A conviction for drugs means it is next to impossible to gain entry to the USA. The band was due to commence a multi-million pound tour of the US, which had to be cancelled because of visa difficulties." But the plea was unsuccessful and Falconer was convicted.

A US inventor has created a fridge that throws cold beer to lazy drinkers.
John Cornwell, 22, who recently graduated from North Carolina University, has spent £1,500 designing the Beer Launching Fridge, which is activated by a remote control.
The mini fridge, which holds a 24-can crate, hurls beer to drinkers up to 10ft away.
John said: "The idea was conceived when I was sitting on the sofa having a few beers. I thought, ‘What if instead of me going to get the beer, the beer came to me?’ About three months later I have a fully automated, remote-controlled, catapulting, beer-launching mini-fridge.
"There is a slight danger of being hit in the head with a flying can but this danger decreases the more you use it."

An Italian grandmother bought a sack of potatoes only to discover a live grenade in the bag.
Olga Mauriello, 74, from Giorgio a Cremano, near Naples, was left shocked after finding the grenade had no pin and was still active.
Olga revealed: "I went to the market to buy some potatoes and that’s where the bomb was. But this bomb was covered in dirt, and I put it in water and got all dirt off. And then I realised ‘It’s a bomb!’ " Police confirmed the grenade was the same type used by US soldiers in Europe during World War II.
Explosive experts safely detonated the grenade.

A Chinese woman has been washing clothes while she sleepwalks.
Mrs Xu, 46, of Wuhan city, has been walking in her sleep for years and has no idea she has done all the washing when she wakes up the next day.
Her husband revealed: "She sleepwalks at least ten times a year, and each time does the same thing - washes clothes for the family.
"The next morning when she wakes up, she’ll praise me for doing so much." Mrs Xu’s sleepwalking is so extreme, her husband has been forced to put locks on the door to stop her trying to wash her neighbours’ dirty laundry.

A Chinese man claims his beer-drinking pet duck can understand him.
Grandpa Cao, who goes for a daily walk through Dalian city with the duck, insists six-year-old Yaya can follow instructions and will only eat if he has a saucer of beer to go with his meal.
Cao said: "He understands every instruction I give him, such as to tumble or to fly. But when he’s tired he turns his back on me.
"When he eats, he needs a bowl of beer, otherwise he won’t be happy." Yaya enjoys a diet of peanuts, shrimps and other seafood snacks.
