CARREY JOKES ABOUT RELATIONSHIP WITH MCCARTHY
JIM CARREY has laughed off reports he and girlfriend JENNY McCARTHY are now a Hollywood "power couple" because they have been given their own celebrity nickname.
The BRUCE ALMIGHTY star appeared on THE LATE SHOW with DAVID LETTERMAN on Monday (19FEB07), where the talk show host asked him about his personal life.
Carrey jokingly explained, "It’s been written about a lot. Me and Jenny McCarthy are together.
"You know, it’s interesting, I’ve always dreamed of being a power couple in Hollywood. That’s one of the big things I’m after.
"They (the media) have started calling us JIMENY, which is obviously a sign of respect. I wondered about it for awhile, then I thought, ‘What a great, fantastic tradition that is! "To be part of that tradition is amazing, to be TOMKAT (TOM CRUISE and KATIE HOLMES) and BRANGELINA (BRAD PITT and ANGELINA JOLIE), and going back to MARKAPATRA (MARK ANTONY and CLEOPATRA) and NAPOLAPHINE (NAPOLEON BONAPARTE and JOSEPHINE). So, it’s not such a bad thing, really!"
