Anna Nicole Smith’s ex lover Larry Birkhead has been unable to get out of bed since her death.
The photographer - who claims he is the father of the late model’s five-month-old daughter Dannielynn - arrived in Florida this week to join the legal battle for custody of her body, so he can bury her.
Birkhead said: ‘I’ve been in bed, just not really able to get out. This is one of the first times I’ve been out. I’m hanging in there, it’s been tough.
‘Thanks for your support and it’s been a long tough road and it’s not over yet but I’m hoping for the best and just hanging in there.
‘I’m here just to honour Anna’s wishes and to be here for my - our daughter - and just to make sure everything goes down the way it should.’ He also admitted he would find it hard to face Howard K. Stern in court, who also claims to be Dannielynn’s father.
Birkhead said: ‘It doesn’t make me happy but I’m here to make sure that that doesn’t happen too much longer.
‘It’ll mean the world to me to hold Dannielynn in my arms, that’s all I’ve really wanted with this whole thing. I’m sure it’s right around the bend for me.
‘I just look at a picture of my daughter and that’s all I really need to see to keep me strong.’
