LATEST: Troubled pop star BRITNEY SPEARS has reportedly left a rehabilitation facility in Malibu, California, less than 24 hours after checking in.
This is the second time in a week that the TOXIC star has left a treatment centre after less than one day - according to news website TMZ.com, Spears left Promises Treatment Center early this morning (21FEB07).
According to further media reports, Spears tried to get into a tattoo parlour before returning to her home, but the shop was closed.
On Friday (16FEB07), she shaved her head bald at a hair salon and then hit the Body & Soul Tattoo parlor in Sherman Oaks, California, where she got a pink, black and white cross on her hip and pink and red lips on her wrist.
She checked herself into Crossroads Centre, a treatment facility founded by musician ERIC CLAPTON last Wednesday (14FEB07), only to check out the following day.
Meanwhile, according to TMZ, the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) has received numerous phone calls to their hotline from people concerned about the welfare of Spears’ children in light of her recent bizarre behaviour. Spears is the mother to two young sons, SEAN PRESTON, 18 months and JAYDEN JAMES, five months.
The DCFS provides a 24-hour phone number for any resident in the Los Angeles area to report or discuss any issue regarding children.

THE BACHELORETTE star TRISTA SUTTER and her husband RYAN are expecting their first child together.
The couple met while taping the reality TV show The Bachelorette in 2002 and married in a televised special on US network ABC in 2003.
Trista tells American publication People, "We are so happy after two years of trying." Ryan, 32, a Colorado fireman, got the news from Trista, 34, a handbag (purse) designer, when he flew into Denver International Airport on 18 December (06)after participating in a mountain expedition in Argentina.
She explains, "We had a three-hour drive back to our home from the airport and I couldn’t wait to tell him, so I pulled him aside to a quiet part of the baggage claim area and told him there." Krista, who is currently 14 weeks pregnant, adds, "I’ve had horrendous morning sickness, but everyone says that is a sign of a healthy pregnancy!"

The US ABC network is planning a spin-off of its hit medical series GREY’S ANATOMY, featuring the character of DR ADDISON MONTGOMERY-SHEPHERD, played by KATE WALSH.
The show’s creator, SHONDA RHIMES, is preparing a two-hour episode Grey’s Anatomy, set to air in May (07), which would serve as the pilot episode for the proposed spin-off.
If the network approves, the show will be considered for spot on the schedule next autumn (07).
An ABC spokeswoman confirmed the plans, but said the plot line for the spin-off was being kept under wraps and no title has been selected.
Grey’s Anatomy has remained hugely popular in the US ratings since its premiere in April 2005.

NICOLE RICHIE and boyfriend JOEL MADDEN are currently house hunting in Los Angeles - just three months after the pair began dating.
THE SIMPLE LIFE star pleaded not guilty yesterday (20FEB07) to a charge of driving while under the influence and faces up to a year in jail if convicted of a second DUI.
Richie, who lives in a West Hollywood condominium, and Madden, who has a house in suburban Glendale, are searching for a new home to live in together.
A source tells American publication Us Weekly, "Nicole hasn’t moved in with him yet…but they are looking at places."

JANET BLAIR, who appeared in several 1940s musicals and comedies and later turned to TV work, has died. She was 85.
Blair died of complications from pneumonia in Santa Monica, California Monday (19FEB07).
She was discovered singing with HAL KEMP’s band at the Cocoanut Grove in Los Angeles in 1941 when she was spotted by a talent scout for Columbia Pictures.
She signed a contract with the studio paying $100 (£51) a week and became an actress in B-grade pictures until film star ROSALIND RUSSELL recommended her for the title role in the comedy MY SISTER EILEEN.
Blair also appeared opposite GEORGE RAFT in the gangster movie BROADWAY, and co-starred with CARY GRANT in 1944’s ONCE UPON A TIME.
She appeared as the love interest in THE FABULOUS DORSEYS and appeared opposite RED SKELTON in the 1946 hit THE FULLER BRUSH MAN.
In 1956, she joined comedian SID CAESAR on his television show CAESAR’S HOUR as replacement for co-star NANETTE FABRAY.
She returned to television in 1971 playing the wife in THE SMITH FAMILY.

LATEST: ANNA NICOLE SMITH’s estranged mother VIRGIE ARTHUR wants to exhume her grandson in the Bahamas and bring his body to Texas to be buried alongside his mother.
Smith’s lawyer and companion HOWARD K. STERN and her mother are currently fighting for the former Playboy Playmate’s remains in a Florida courtroom.
On the second day of testimony in the case, Circuit Judge LARRY SEIDLIN said the best result would be a compromise to appease both Arthur and Stern.
The medical examiner in the case warned yesterday (20FEB07) that Smith’s body was decomposing more quickly than expected and a public viewing could be in danger.
The judge said he would make a decision by Friday morning (23FEB07), more than two weeks after her death.
Stern’s attorney, KRISTA BARTH, claims Smith wanted to be buried next to her son and claims she has bank documentation proving Smith had agreed to pay for two cemetery plots in the Bahamas.
Arthur’s lawyer contends that Smith’s son was buried illegally in the Bahamas and wants his body brought to Texas.
Daniel died in the Bahamas just days after Smith gave birth to daughter DANNIELYNN in September (06).
Smith died at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida on 8 February (07) at the age of 39.

Tony Award-winner JENNIFER HOLLIDAY will reprise her hit role as EFFIE in a new stage production of DREAMGIRLS.
The star won a Best Actress Tony Award for playing the troubled star of a legendary female singing group in the 1981 Broadway production.
CHRISTOPHER B MANOS, producer of Theater of the Stars in Atlanta, Georgia, announced that the troupe’s 2007 season will feature Holliday in the role that made her famous.
JENNIFER HUDSON is nominated for a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her performance as Effie in the feature film version of Dreamgirls.

Rocker IGGY POP insists it’s much harder to relax now he is clean and sober because he used to rely on smoking a joint to feel good.
The 59-year-old has adopted a healthy lifestyle, and claims the clean-living way of life is much harder to maintain.
He tells Spin magazine, "To feel good when I was 21, all I had to do was to smoke a joint.
"Now I have to turn off my phones, do tai chi for an hour, drink a strong cup of coffee, and stay away from bad people, so I can feel good for an hour or two, knowing when it ends, I’m gonna feel like the miserable 59-year-old prick that I actually am!"

JAMES BROWN’s widow, TOMI RAE HYNIE, has slammed producers of the Grammy Awards for combining a tribute to the Godfather of Soul with a tribute to the EAGLES.
During the ceremony on 11 February (07), the Eagles were honoured with a three-song medley, while Brown was remembered with a performance by CHRISTINA AGUILERA singing IT’S A MAN’S MAN’S MAN’S WORLD, followed by a tap-dancing routine while black-and-white footage of Brown dancing played on a giant video screen above.
The music legend’s glittering red robe was brought out and hung on the microphone stand, without a mention of Brown’s contribution to music.
Hynie tells US talk show host LARRY KING, "My expectations were they would have given him a little bit more. But he had to share it with the Eagles, I guess.
"I love the Eagles, too, but I just wanted more for him. I thought they could have done a little bit more." Brown died on Christmas Day (25DEC06) and is expected to be buried in the next few days now that a court battle over his final resting place has been resolved.

LATEST: The VAN HALEN reunion tour featuring the return of former lead singer DAVID LEE ROTH has been postponed indefinitely.
Tickets for the 40-date tour, which was announced on the band’s website on 2 February (07), were expected to go on sale this weekend (24-25FEB07).
However, a source closed to the band tells USA TODAY the tour has been put on hold, but declined to give a reason for the delay.
A publicist for EDDIE, ALEX and WOLFGANG VAN HALEN says reports of a cancellation should be not be taken as fact until an official statement is released.
Earlier this month (FEB07), Roth said he hoped the band’s reunion would last beyond their summer tour.
Regardless of future tour plans, Van Halen will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on 12 March (07). The ceremony could feature Van Halen performing with both Roth and his replacement, SAMMY HAGAR.

Soul singer JOSS STONE has confessed she has a surprise guest on her new album - former British soccer star VINNIE JONES.
The 19-year-old Stone recruited the sportsman-turned-actor to speak during an interlude on her latest work, INTRODUCING JOSS STONE, and reveals he also displays his vocal skills on a hidden track.
She tells MTV, "(I said to him), ‘You know, I’ve made this album and want to play it for you to see if you’re interested (in doing) a little chat for me at the beginning cos I love your voice’.
"He went silent for about half a second and then said ‘Yeah, all right, I’ll do it’. No thought! I love that about him. And we sing at the end - it’s like a secret track. You leave it rolling for a little bit and then you hear it." And Stone feels she shares the same attitude as the LOCK, STOCK AND TWO SMOKING BARRELS star.
The British singer adds, "He’s got that spirit, that’s just like ‘f*ck it’, which is my spirit as well - we kinda connect like that.

Actor HUGH GRANT is getting to grips with the effects of neglecting his figure - his body has become fatter on one side.
The NOTTING HILL star, 46, admits he hasn’t worked out for years and when he tried to get back in shape, he failed miserably.
He says, "I’ve got rather fat - particularly on one side, weirdly. I don’t know why, but I seem to have developed one love handle. I noticed it the other day. I was standing in front of the mirror and I realised I’m S-shaped! "So, I’ve been making an effort to get fit and I’ve started doing some sit-ups. They were pretty much the first I’d ever done in my life, but they put my back out so badly that I had to crawl to work every day after that."

British actress JOANNA CHRISTIE has defended EQUUS co-star DANIEL RADCLIFFE for appearing nude on the London stage, insisting the play is about much more than him stripping off.
The HARRY POTTER star, 17, defended his decision to appear naked in a revival of PETER SHAFFER’s 1973 play earlier this month (FEB07), after the promotional pictures for the show caused controversy among parents of young fans of the boy wizard.
But 24-year-old Christie is amazed by the amount of press attention Radcliffe has attracted, and urges critics to look beyond the raunchy scenes to see the meaning of the play itself.
She says, "I can’t believe there are people saying he’s a bad role model for children. He’s an actor playing a part, and in the story he happens to have a relationship with a girl.
"The play is on school syllabuses. It’s an amazingly interesting, complex story. It’s not about nudity or sex. It’s about a lot of very complex issues.
When we do (the nude scene) in the context of the play it’s really beautiful and natural.
"I expected some publicity because of Daniel but not stories and photos everywhere."

Actor GEORGE CLOONEY is embracing the ageing process and feels under no pressure to keep his looks youthful.
The 45-year-old bachelor feels free now he no longer has to worry about his appearance.

LATEST: SIR PAUL McCARTNEY’s estranged wife HEATHER MILLS has confirmed she will appear on TV show DANCING WITH THE STARS - despite denying any involvement with the show earlier this month (FEB07). Mills will take to the ice alongside singer BILLY RAY CYRUS and former N’SYNC star JOEY FATONE, and will be the first contestant to dance with an artificial limb.
Her spokesperson hopes the experience will help distract Mills from her split from the former BEATLE in May last year (06).
PHIL HALL, Mills’ spokesperson, says, "It’s something that might take her mind off some of the difficulties she’s been having.
"She’s doing it because she loves dancing, always has, enjoys a challenge and sees this as a combination of both." Hall adds Mills’ participation is "nothing to do with the money", adding, "It’s just to do with he challenge and fun of it." The show begins on 19 March (07) in the US.

Latina pop star SHAKIRA has lavished praise on BEYONCE for her excellent grasp of the Spanish language - and admires the star for her determined work ethic.
The HIPS DON’T LIE star collaborated on new track BEAUTIFUL LIAR for Beyonce’s re-release of B’DAY, which includes an additional six Spanish songs, and Shakira insists the experience was "thrilling".
Speaking to MTV, she says, "(Beyonce) has a very good accent when she sings in Spanish and I think anything that she wants to do she will do just fine, because she is a very determined and focused woman and that is something to admire. She is a great artist.
"I am very happy and very excited about (working with Beyonce). I have just finished shooting a video with her. It was a fantastic experience to work with her, to get to know her as the great artist that she is.
"She is an amazing performer and also a sweet person and a very nice human being and I am so thrilled and thankful for her invitation. It was her idea to make me a part of her album and it has been wonderful."

British TV actor DEREK WARING has died of cancer. He was 79.
Waring, who starred in television series Z CARS and MOODY AND PEGG, died in hospital on Tuesday (20FEB07).
The star, who was awarded a Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) scholarship after serving in the British army, also appeared in THE PROFESSIONALS, DIXON OF DOCK GREEN, and THE NEW AVENGERS.
His wife, actress DAME DOROTHY TUTIN, died in 2001 aged 71 following a battle with leukaemia.
Waring is survived by his two children, actors AMANDA and NICK.

Actress SIENNA MILLER refusal to exercise or diet has convinced the star her bad habits will catch up with her one day.
But the 25-year-old insists she isn’t prepared to change her eating habits just yet - even if it means getting cellulite on her thighs.
She says, "One day I know I’m going to wake up and I’ll be out to here and my bum will be on the floor! I have just had a normal life so I’m fine with who I am and I’m fine with cellulite, I know it’s normal.
"I’m really not under any delusions of perfection - I don’t feel glamorous at all.
"I’m still young and I run around a lot, but I’m not particularly healthy. I do eat a lot of food. I don’t eat salads and I drink full-fat coffee instead of skinny (skimmed milk) coffee."
